Student Directed Musical Ideas

Hi everyone!

For my final project as a senior in high school, I will be directing a musical for grades 8-10. The show would be a full-length musical and ideally something younger actors can connect with. The students we have are fairly mature so I would prefer to steer clear of a show with too much of a Disney vibe. Our space is a black box theatre, so anything that requires extreme sets or an extremely large chorus would have to be altered. Some of the shows we have in mind at the moment are 13 The Musical, Urinetown, and Merrily We Roll Along.

More show suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
