Studying abroad-- King's College
#0Studying abroad-- King's College
Posted: 11/6/05 at 5:15pmI'm an American who is going to study abroad in London next year, and I've looked over a ton of programs and now I'm confused. One program goes through King's College and I'm like "That's great! Even in America I've heard that's a pretigious school." So I googled it and I found two different King's Colleges. One in London under the University of London and another one that's part of Cambridge. I'm thinking the one associated with Cambridge is probably the one I've heard of here, isn't it?

I have no idea about the Cambridge one, but the one that's part of UL has a good reputation and an unbelievable location. (Right by the RNT. And I mean right next to it).
So if you want to do a lot of stuff in London, the UL one is the way to go. You'll be in Zone 1 of the Tube all the time. :)

UCL has a GREAT location, right up the street from the British Museum.
Of course, I'm totally biased when it comes to Bloomsbury!

Great! Location means a lot to me. Since I've neevr been to London before, I want a central location so I can really experience the city.
I just hope I'll do fine adjusting to the weather seeing as I live on the coast in So. California.

Central London isn't the only "authentic" London experience.
Just sayin'.

You're right... it's definitely not.
I can just testify that I LOVED living in Bloomsbury! Terribly convenient when it comes to the Tube...or walking for that matter.

I'm studying abroad Jan-May of 06 in London at Regents College. It seems to be (many of my friends have already studied there) in a great place of London. Maybe you should check that one out :)
Have fun!

Posted: 11/6/05 at 7:30pmOh yeah, are you going through ASA? I've got a catalog for them and they go through Regent's. But since it was called "British American College London" I assumed it a college made for studying abroad Americans. Of course, I didn't do any research on that assumption. Anyway, I narrowed it down to CIEE and Interstudy.

Posted: 11/6/05 at 7:40pmBoth Kings colleges are good! The Cambridge one has the "name" though! Goldsmiths is a very good uni and is reknowned for producing some of the best artists in the world. It's set just outside Jolly Old but is on the underground circuit!
