I was looking for a summer job and I was wondering if anyone does summer stock anymore? It sounds like a great summer job. Thanks for any info you have!

for a lot of younger actors, summer is when it is easier to find work since so many theatres have expanded summer seasons.
checks out StrawHats and NETC's (if you live in the northeast) to see what the BIG auditions are about, or talk to theatres in your area if you don't want to go far away. auditions will be starting in late winter/early spring (most likely).
Are there any good companys or theaters in the southeast, preferably Florida?
We have LOTS of summerstock in New England. Check out the Peterborough Players in Peterborough, New Hamsphire as well as the Ogunquit Playhouse in Ogunquit Maine (you can always get an internship there) and Hackmatack Playhouse in Berwick, Maine. Those three are the only ones I can think of at the moment.

Also look at the Midwest Theatre Auditions held in St. Louis Feb 23-25. The application for this year's audition needs to be post-marked by Friday if you do decide to go. Just google it if you're interested to see what they have to offer.
Cheers,

No one knows of any Summer Stock in the Orange County, NY area do you?
I can't find any sort of adolecent and up community theatre projects around here.
Summer stock is so cool. It still exisits especially in Florida! It would be great to do summer stock again but I'm hoping to get into the OCU summer programs.
ooh! where in FL?
I am auditioning for Strawhat and was wondering if anybody else has auditioned through them, what their experience was like, and where/what they got into?
I auditioned as a standby last year at Strawhat. I didn't get much out of it. The people running it were nice, and it was relatively un-cattle like for being a cattle call.
Just be ready to fight to get noticed during the dance call. I got some callbacks but didn't end up with a job. Tons of people didn't get any callbacks, despite the promotions that most people do on the Strawhat website. Some people I know got tons of them. It just depends.
We have a summer stock theater near where I live, but you have to be 18 to get cast, and i'm only 17

try contacting the theatre and seeing if there are any internships/apprenticeships available. that's a GREAT way to get experience if you're too young to be hired, and also a good chance to make connections that could help you out in the future!
williamstown theatre festival has an outstanding program for apprentices during summer accept it costs $$$$ but, you work with the stars.
