And that film is..............

(drum roll)

NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM

Awful, awful, awful film. Just empty special effects in the service of inertia. The film neither comes nor goes anywhere and not even someone as talented as Ricky Gervais can lift it from the unbearably black abyss of mediocrity.

Considering what you usually gravitate toward, did you honestly expect to enjoy this?

Any film that contains the presence of Robin Williams, I automatically reject, outright! I'm off to the 10:00 showing of ROCKY BALBOA.

In the seasonal glut of family fare, why did this make 45 million and CHARLOTTE'S WEB so much less? I'll take a wonderful pig over a too radiant Stiller any day.

I at least hoped Gervais' presence would lift it up where it belonged, to where the eagles fly...

Does this movie even have a plot?

Why didn't they just get Debbie Reynolds to do the voice in CHARLOTTE'S WEB? I might have gone to see it, then. I really, really liked ROCKY BALBOA.

Am I the only one on this board who liked Night At The Museum? I thought it was nice, little family movie, and I thought it was funny. I only went cause of Robin Williams.

The movie DOES have a plot. The plot is basically Ben Stiller's character gets a job at the Museum of Natural History as the new night security guard, and is given a tour and a guide to the job by the former guards(Mickey Roony, Dick Van Dyke, and Bill Cobb). He then learns that the museum is cursed with a piece of treasure from the Egyptian pharoah's tomb and the curse causes everything in the museum to come to life at night. At the same time, someone is stealing from the museum and is planting the stolen merchandise on Ben Stiller's character.

It's a shame Stiller doesn't play guitar with his friends Weird and Gillie.

Hated it, the plot about a dead beat dad, good god how many times does this have to turn up in family films?

Also the pharoah was just the gayest, i laughed out loud when he first appeared ( which was sad really, since it was the first laugh i had in the whole movie )

It may have worked if Ben Stiller was not cast, that man is horrible to watch

Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist. Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino. This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more. Tazber's: Reply to Is Stephen Schwartz a Practicing Christian

It's not in the AAFES cinemas over here yet, but I'm planning to see it when it is. =/

I heard a podcast interview with the director about 4 months ago and from the conversation it sounded like they (he and the actors) basically were (re)writing it and making some of it up during filming.

ROCKY BALBOA is excellent. It is one of the best films of the year, with a couple of the finest performances of the year. Stallone, for me, gives a superb performance. The writing is first-rate; and, because it is a ROCKY sequel, will be unfairly ignored come awards' time. I defy anyone to watch the film and not find something to like.
