Survivor's Richard Hatch Not So Good At Playing The Game

When you read what he's allegedly done, it's pretty insane to think he thought he would get away with it (if it's true)

PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island (AP) -- Richard Hatch, who won $1 million on the first season of the reality show "Survivor," was indicted Thursday for failing to pay taxes on his winnings.

Prosecutors had charged Hatch with two counts of tax evasion in January, and he agreed to plead guilty. But he backed out of the deal in March, saying he thought CBS was responsible for paying the taxes on his prize.

He is so stupid. The defense that I heard that CBS was to pay the taxes is ridiculous because he would then have to pay taxes on the taxes paid by CBS because the payment would be taxable income!!!!!

Sorry for the duplicate thread. My only comment is - since when is the winner NOT responsible for taxes on gifts/money won in contests? I've never heard "tax free" winnings.. (taxes paid by the check writer)

He might have been able to manipulate the survivors, but he can't manipulate the IRS
