I'm auditioning for Sweeney Todd soon (for the part of Sweeney), and I'm looking at some songs already, but I'm hoping for some more advice/songs.
Songs on the List so far:
Where's the Girl from SCARLET PIMPERNEL (7 flats and the perfect range, I figured it would fit the part best, but I've used the song in an audition with this director before)
Alive from JEKYLL AND HYDE (if it doesn't have the musical match, it definately matches in intention)
No More from INTO THE WOODS
Of course I don't want any trite songs.. so any further advice?
Also, does anyone know how I could get my hands on the sheet music to Prayer from SCARLET PIMPERNEL?
It's best not to audition with songs from the show you're auditioning for. The director usually has the character already formed in his/her mind and so an actor intruding on that concept usually isn't a good idea. That's why I normally try to find songs by the same artist, but not the same show.
There is no *legal* copy of Prayer available.
Great Choices though.
