Went on a TCM Movie Site tour today
Got the tickets as comps. Great way to kill an afternoon. You see clips from the movies & than see the site or what is there now. When stuck in traffic the guide played trivia & I wound up winning a TCM tour t shirt
Never knew about this before. Started by Ellens Stardust Diner & wound up at the end in Grand Central. No idea how frequent they are . Normal ticket price is $ 40
If you see this advertised go
I heard about this before. Well, it was because I went on the company's regular movie and tv show site tour. I think it's new. Just got an email last week.
That sounds great! I love classic films.... and trivia :)
What "classic" film sites are shown on the tour? New York wasn't used much as an actual location until the late 1940s.
Is it mostly later films? '70s and '80s? and beyond?
Just curious how it's presented from a "TCM" point of view.
They show a DVD opening by Robert Osborne & than clips from the movies corresponding to the sights visited
1. Site in 7 Year Itch where Marilyn Monroes skirt blew up
2. Bench in Woody Allens opening of manhattan looking @ 59 th st bridge
3. Tiffanys from Breakfast At Tiffanys
4. Brownstone where Hepburn lived in Tiffanys
5. Building where Liz Taylor lived in Butterfield 8
6. Plaza Hotel where Sunday in NY & The Way We Were & N By NW were filmed
