I just finished watching THE COVE, the third of the fifteen films in the final running for an Oscar nomination this year (the other two I have seen being EVERY LITTLE STEP and FOOD, INC., in addition to the non-finalist films OUTRAGE, CAPITALISM: A LOVE STORY, and THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE).
For those that have seen it, what are your thoughts? Personally, I don't see why it is getting all the acclaim that it is. It's a great film and an incredible story they went to high lengths to expose. But I don't think it's a "lock" to win like all the pundits are predicting.
I'd much rather see FOOD, INC. win. It's a more important issue, I think, and a much better film. It doesn't have the action-adventure aspect that THE COVE has, but it does have the secrecy and scandals to uncover.
