I LIKE you because you're open minded and a progressive thinker.
I dislike you because you can be closed-minded to anything non-theatre, like sports, non-Broadway music and non-theatre people.
What's your like/dislike relationship with theatre folk?
EDIT- I changed the title from love/hate to like/dislike. No offense was intended and I can see how some viewed the "hate" part as very strong. My sorries!!!

Generalize much?

It's not like we had threads about the Super Bowl or what non-theater music we listen to or anything.
i understand what you mean but there are other groups i know that are also close minded.

Wow.
So easily offended, are we?
It's just meant to take a look at what you like and dislike about those in theatre.
I mean, nobody is perfect. Even *gasp* theatre peeps.

In what ways are you imperfect?

Liam,
I patiently and quietly ask this question:
WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU TRYING TO SAY IN YOUR LAST POSTING?

Who the heck said we're perfect? But as long as you're going to stereotype us, at least do it accurately.

OH come on people!
I'm not trying to tear theatre people apart! I AM one. I just thought it would be interesting to see how WE view OURSELVES, in both the positive and negative lights!
What I posted about being closed-minded about sports or other things, came from ME. I used to do that. If it wasn't theatre, I didn't care about it. Until I opened up a bit and saw that there are interesting and entertaining things outside of theatre.
No one is "stereotyping" anyone. It's just a question to see your point of view.

Liam, I say this as a close personal friend who knows everything about you. After reading your 01:07:32 PM post, I urge you to get professional help.
I second that motion.
i'm sorry if i seemed angry in my last post! Recentlly on one of my classes, we had a discussion about sterotypes and predjudice and i think that we tend to sterotype unconsciouslly. But i have found that many groups are to some extent exclusive. I don't think it is just theater folk.
I love you- because my brain forces me too
I hate you- because in reality actors suck and the techies are the cool people(this is coming from an actor, honestly techies are the most amazing people).
that was a stupid post but my mins is fried from my research paper.
i consider myself a really well rounded person with a broad scope of likes and dislikes...
ive never been one to close off myself to anything or any experience
and ive been known to try almost anything once before forming a definite opinion
i can easily listen to nelly one minute and then totally switch gears and listen to something from mary poppins without thinking twice about it
i enjoy watching movies that provoke me, inspire me to think but i also find the movie "booty call" hysterically funny
i can watch an episode of Great Performances on PBS and then catch a re-run of "Three's Company" and enjoy them both the same
that's how i view myself:
"a well rounded person"

Wow, way to generalize. While I know a lot of theatre fans who fit your description, I know just as many (if not more) who don't; I would be one who doesn't.

I don't see NY's post as bashing anyone. he was trying to draw from both sides of the spectrum. No need to jump down his throat.
NYBroadwayNY started this thread for a reason, because there are people that act exactly how he described
if come across quite a few
in "real life" and on this board as well
i don't find this thread offensive at all
I love myself because theatre makes me work hard and working hard got me where I am now.
I hate myself because I make things bigger and more dramatic than they need to be.
i would NEVER say i "hate" myself not for anything in the world
hate is such a strong word
I'm "close-minded" to other music because I just don't like other music
Same here Sally!
