TV Taping Question ("The View")
#0TV Taping Question ("The View")
Posted: 6/22/06 at 4:24pmI will be attending a tv taping of "The View" when I go to NY in early July. For anyone that's been, what time should I get to the studio to get seats up front? I know we were told to get there by 9:30 sharp, but I assume we'de have to be there a little earlier.. Also, how is the experience of attending? Is it a good time?
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Posted: 6/22/06 at 4:32pmI went three weeks ago when I was in NY and had a great time. Line up early - though it will not make a difference where you sit. Upon entry and before you go through security - they will write something on your ticket. That deternines where you sit. However - if you get there early - 8:30 - it will be more comfortable for you during your wait. You are allowed to take cameras - do it! They let you take pictures during the commercials - unless it's a cell phone. ALL cell phones are to be turned off the entire duration as it interferes with the equipment. The ladies will come out and talk to you during the breaks - I got to meet Barbra Walters even - and if you are a man in the audience - you get extra attention. I had a blast! And they had a give away that day also. Much more fun than what I expected - so have a blast! And make sure you eat first - it's a lot of standing and waiting and you can't leave for food once you are passed security.

Three huge women from CNN in the second row actually.
Another thing I thought was impressive - Merideth really loves meeting people - and literally has to be coralled by the stage manager when it's time to come back from the breaks. She will even sit as the audience is leaving and meet you, take pictures and autograph things for you. She remains on set until everyone has left. Very impressive. And Hasselskank leaves the set at breaks - does not go into the audience.

also don't wear a white top- darker colors work best for the lighting and such, when I used to work on shows anyone with an all-white top on would get asked if he/she had anything (sweater, etc.) to put over it, or if not he/she would get sat towards the back.
Also- nothing with visible logos.
(Sorry if they cover all of this on your ticket, just throwing out my tips. :))

Incorrect. Basically it's who exactly cheesedoodle mentioned, although the box area towards the back didn't seem that far from where the ladies were.
Eh, I wasn't overly thrilled, because the hot topics weren't light and particularly humorous that day...but I had my dose of Orlando Bloom, but he ran out during the break. *sigh* There was a wardrobe malfunction of sorts, so the producer was spazing.

Posted: 6/22/06 at 8:32pmFor other people who have attended THE VIEW - does Hasselskank always leave the floor during commercial breaks? For what reason? Do they other ladies comment about it at all? Is there anything said by the guy who pumps up the audience - something like "All the ladies, except Elizabitch will come out during breaks?" I find this fascinating because I hate her so much. I would love to just tie her to a post and slowly beat her.

Actually Munk - the "guy" who pumps up the audience is a woman. She is a comedian known on the circuit and she is wonderful. Elizabeth goes off stage during breaks because her child is in the dressing room, and I think she is still breast feeding. The women do not comment on her - or the fact that she leaves because essentially it's no big deal. I merely posted that she leaves because Doodle said something about slapping her during the break.
