Michael Roderick, the writer and director of last year’s gripping produc-tion of 9 STUDENTS, 11 QUESTIONS, presents TAKE FIVE, with the students of La Salle Academy for a limited engagement this Spring.
Michael Roderick and the students of La Salle Academy’s World Literature through Drama class explore the interests and issues of teenagers living in today’s fast pace, technologically advanced world with TAKE FIVE. As a way of countering the norm, a senior high school English class set out to find the voices of others through issues they were interested in learning more about. They returned instead with the burdens of pain and joy, as told through the words of those they stopped to interview along the way. TAKE FIVE sheds new light on the continued relevance of issues such as street violence, suicide, and teen pregnancy, among other topics, as told by students. Along the way, the show explores how today's technological world affects the thoughts and communications of teenagers. The story centers on this group of students, and what they endured during their research and interview process. Driven by these voices, these students help to place these issues in a new light for all to experience.
The World Literature through Drama class at La Salle Academy is a senior elective lecture and discussion course taught by Michael Roderick. The class teaches students of the different disciplines of theatre and production through applied learning. For more information on the class, please visit:
