Tampa, FL.....and the gay authors controversy at the library

here we go again, West Gate Branch Library in Tampa Florida has caved into a few bigoted patrons complaints and removed, then brought back MUCH smaller and much harder to find, a display of gay authors, themes and characters for Gay pride Month. Literature, banned in a library........ridiculous.

then, PLEASE email Hillsborough County's chief librarian, Jean Peters and let her know how WRONG this is.

Libraries give information, they do not BAN it....nor do they move it to where someone can hardly find it.....

Elph - you KNOW I'll write to them!

You know, I kind of hope the 'right' keeps pushing this agenda - like this, the abortion thing, gay rights, etc. - before the mid-term elections. It may be what will shock people enough into getting some of this stopped.

More news, I shared this with a friend in Florida who sent me back this, after she forwarded my initial post to a casting agent here in CA:

"I just broadcast the whole posting from broadway.com and the news
article to 20K people on myspace - That should help them get a few more
emails. I made sure it went out to gay activist groups. It bothers me
because a library is one of the few places a kid can go to research and
learn without restrictions or people being biased."

This friggin country is regressing.
