Tax Free Shopping

I just made a purchase of clothing in NYS. There was sales tax included. The clerk told me it was the "federl tax".

Is there such a thing as federal sales tax?

Just hit a bridge or tunnel and buy clothes in Jersey. No tax on clothes is beautiful.
Pretty pretty please don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f**ckin' perfect!

re: Tax Free Shopping

I just figured out the problem. The tax-free shopping is only for purchases of $150 or less. This purchase was over $150.

Thanks anyhow.

No sales tax on clothes here in Massachusetts either. Ther is tax however if the item is over $150, then it is 5% of the amount over $150.

...and every single message that Mr. Roxy posts is taxing--but in another way.

Roxy, if are complaining about the taxes in NY, why don't you move out? I hear that Siberia is lovely this time of year.

Tax-free shopping? I think those might be the most beautiful words I've ever heard in my life. Good thing we don't have it here--I'd be broke in a heartbeat.
