I'm still reelng from seeing the DVD....although I thought the musical theatre references to "Rent" and "Cats" were hysterical!!
WCA: Is that reeling in a good way or a bad way? I haven't seen it...
I haven't seen it either, but I am waiting for it to come in the mail from Blockbuster.com

Here are the Lyrics to the "Rent" Parody called "Lease"
Everyone Has AIDS
Everyone has AIDS!
AIDS AIDS AIDS!
AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS!
Everyone has AIDS!
And so this is the end of our story
And everyone is dead from AIDS
It took from me my best friend
My only true pal
My only bright star (he died of AIDS)
Well I'm gonna march on Washington
Lead the fight and charge the brigades
There's a hero inside of all of us
I'll make them see everyone has AIDS
My father (AIDS!)
My sister (AIDS!)
My uncle and my cousin and her best friend (AIDS AIDS AIDS!)
The gays and the straights
And the white and the spades
Everyone has AIDS!
My grandma and my dog 'ol blue (AIDS AIDS AIDS)
The pope has got it and so do you (AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS)
C'mon everybody we got quilting to do (AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS)
We gotta break down these baricades, everyone has
AIDS! x 20
And let's not forget "America: F**k YEAH!!"
Besides the lyrics, what I loved about the RENT parody was that all the puppets were dressed EXACTLY like the cast of RENT.
I laughed out loud, many times in the movie theater. And, even if the film is 20 minutes too-long, it never stops being amusing.
And Rose - the set pf "Lease" was avery modern day version of the Rent set. It reminded me of something you would see in a mall.
The vomit scene was my favorite. I couldn't stop laughing!!!
My favorite is the puppet sex scene. I have never laughed harder at something...and neither has my mom.
I didn't really think it was that funny. The satire was no where near as dead on as in the South Park movie, but I guess maybe Parker and Stone aren't as knowledgeable about Terrorism and Gov't policies as they are about censorship. The lambasting of celebrities was pretty much lame, especially since a lot of the celebrities they poked fun at aren't even very political. (Liv Tyler, Helen Hunt, Matt Damon, wtf?).
Still there were some good moments scattered throughout like the Rent parody, the vomiting scene, and the "panthers"
I just moved this to the top of my que at netflix based on what you all have said!
Gary Johnston : Your skills are fading with age, Mrs. Sarandon.
Susan Sarandon: You will die a peasant's death!
After what they did to Marc Shaiman, I'm not spending a dime on this film.
If the movie makes money, Marc makes money - so please go out and buy it if that's your reason.
Me - I was completely underwhelmed by the movie and will stick to my dvd set of thunderbirds...
What happened with Marc Shaiman?
I thought the movie was hilarious, but I know that it's not exactly everyone's cup of tea. My favorite part was his "inspirational" speech at the end, about d*cks, p*ssies and a**holes. That and every reference to the Film Actors Guild because I hate when Hollywood gets involved in politics, so they deserve to be made fun of.
It did a good job of satirizing action movies, but most of the satire of everything else was soooooooo brooooaaad that it missed the targets of truth that would've made things more funny.
orangeskit- the creative team chose not to use MR Shaiman's score. But contracts being contracts.... I'm sure Craig is right.
I miss you more then Michael Bay missed the mark
When he made Pearl Harbor
I miss you more than that movie missed the point
And that’s an awful lot girl
And now, now you’ve gone away
And all I’m trying to say is
Pearl Harbor sucked, and I miss you
I need u like Ben Affleck needs acting school
He was terrible in that film
I need u like Cuba Gooding needed a bigger part
He’s way better than Ben Affleck
And now all I can think about is your smile
and that $hity movie too
Pearl Harbor sucked and I miss you
Why does Michael Bay get to keep on making movies?
I guess Pearl Harbor sucked
Just a little bit more than I miss you

Well, then if Marc is still getting a cut, I'll watch it.
But I didn't like the way they let him go.
I saw this yesterday....and what a waste of my time. I never laughed.......I found it totally ridiculous, and wasn't even entertained.
About the only I liked was the puppetry work.........
