Ok, so it takes two hours, and involves software and soldering (!) skills, but there's apparently a 17 year old out there who has managed to unlock iPhone from AT&T. And has posted the instructions on his blog, natch...

Yeah, and I don't know that I would invest all that time in order to just go from AT&T to TMobile either. But it's still pretty cool.

well, someone has to invest the time originally so that someone can go simplify it from there. Give it a few more weeks and there will be an idiot proof way of doing it available. Not legally of course, but available.

I just saw Allison Stewart on Countdown do a story on the teen hacker and she said that "while other kids were out playing this summer, this kid was working on sticking it to the man". What man? Apple? I guess she must have been alking about AT&T because you will still need to buy an iPhone in order to hack it.
