He killed four people driving drunk and got off because the defense argued successfully that he was spoiled and therefore not responsible.

He was sentenced to 10 years probation.

Well, he was caught on a friend's phone at a party with alcohol. And the idiot skipped town.

The manhunt is getting really intense, the FBI is involved as well as international agencies (they're pretty sure his mommy spirited him away so he wouldn't get caught; she listed as a missing person).

I can't wait for them to catch him and throw him in jail.

You're right Roxy, but only if you have enough money. Otherwise the US has one of the highest incarceration rates in the world.

In cases like this, bail and probation are a joke to those it applies to. It is merely a license to do it again. The judge gave this idiot the ultimate get out of jail card . This guy thinks he can use it whenever he wants.

He will get a smart lawyer and he will probably walk again. Sad to say, those he killed in the accident never will.

I think they'll catch him.

These people are way too spoiled to live any kind of life where they would actually have to cover their tracks and live off the grid.

And I don't think any lawyer can defend against his skipping parole.

Then again, he already got off once for quadruple man slaughter so who knows.

Leave it to someone to bring race into the conversation.How about the African American daredevil cyclist who mowed down a woman (white) in Central Park a year or so ago and basically walked away scot free?That one kind of missed the news cycle.

By the way, the woman died.

Roxy to be fair, we had an African American killed while selling loose cigarettes her in NY. This kid kills 4 prople and walks off sct free and then breaks parole. One was a poor African American, the other a white child of Afluensa. I do hate trumped up racism like with that "Award Winning Playwright" being shushed Bull Sh*t. In cases like this however it is obvious it is not only White Privilege but Wealth Privilage!

The problem is it was not the first time he had done that. The store where it happened was losing money on cigarette sales because of this behavior. I cannot comment on the ultimate outcome as I was not there.. The justice system decided . Many were not thrilled by the OJ verdict via jury nullification but we accepted it. If cigarettes are bad, than ban their sales totally. Problem is, bodega owners would be hurt. In addition, while government wants you to stop there is the nagging problem is how to replace the money cigarette taxes bring in.

The guy resisted and it went downhill from there. I disagree with white privilege but agree with wealth privilege . He had a smart lawyer who rolled the dice and a judge who should be removed from the bench for the biggest travesty of justice in quite sometime. The guy deserves jail time as does any driver who kills someone driving under the influence be they white or black. rich or poor.

I doubt the officer who was involved got up that morning intending to kill someone. The police made a major mistake not taking action before it got to this stage as he had a slew of complaints against him

Hurling insults at someone is not the way to have an intelligent conversation.For your information, while he did not deserve jail time he should have been kicked off the force.Some people should never become cops as they do not have the temperament for it. This guy was such a person.

Roxy, no one was hurling insults. I was asking for clarification. Engaging in a discourse. I do agree that people with money can buy "Justice" for themselves as in with this Affluenza dude. I also think there is a bit of white privilage wrapped up in it as well.

Namo you are right about Class Privilege and the OJ example. I think this kid's case however is even more blatant then OJ's case which is why OJ came out with some people rooting for him.

Larry, you expressed what I was trying to get across very eloquently. In this case it is a mixture of White and Economic Privilage.

You are oh, so right. And this is currently playing out in the oddest ways in this country. There are black pot dealers who got mandatory life sentences during the "three strikes" era in places where wealthy white "entrepreneurs" are learning how to create medical and/or recreational marijuana dispensaries depending on where they live. The black dealers? Criminals. The white dealers? Entrepreneurs.

But I don't mean my discussion of classism to undercut the very real factor of racism in this country. The poorest white person is, in general, better treated than poor and even just low-income black people.
