The 20 Best Movies of All Time#1

I couldn't find a thread with this subject. Actually I'm not sure if I am capable of having an opinion myself. It's such a mind blowing question and the answer is sort of self revealing. Therefore i think I cowardly pass and wait for your suggestions! Let's be kind though and say that It's allowed to narrow the choices down to a genre or a decade.
If one picks the very narrow genre of westerns, which makes it much easier, then i think i can put forward a candidate for at least the top spot: ill brutto, ill buono, ill cattivo, the good, the ugly, the bad (literal english title). I feel that the marriage of story, direction, music and acting (the main characters) is practically perfect in that movie at the same time as the components are perfect and groundbreaking in and of themselves. The characters are highly sterotypical but I accept it because I see it as romantic/surrealistic art (or the simple western flick taken to perfection). One can of course question the western as a genre. How do one compare the spaghetti westerns with unforgiven for instance? It's really like comparing two movies from completely different genres. If one have to i still feel that The good the bad and the ugly is a better romantic/surrealistic take on the western (where romantic obviously does not stand for the romance between the characters), than unforgiven is a dramatic take on the same genre. Actually I think Unforgiven is somewhat overrated as a movie precisely because of it's rarity as a realistic western. Not that the breaking of new ground shouldn't be premiered, it definetely should and that's one reason why i feel that "the good etc". is worthy of it's top spot. And perhaps it's extra fitting to reward the breaking of new ground within the western genre.
My confidence regarding the top spot might have to do with the fact that I have yet to see many famous westerns but they will have to be darn good to compete with this movie.
And by the way, "ill brutto, ill buono, ill cattivo" would fit into my top 20, I'm not sure about the place though.

Well the thread title really means "Which are your 20 favourite movies" or perhaps better, "Of the movies you have seen "which 20 do you regard as the best", which is not necessarily the same thing as one's favourite movies.

"The Good the Bad and the Ugly? Talk about Sopra Valutato!"
Well when it was released the critical "valutato" was "spaghetti", but eventhough it's highly regarded nowadays I don't find it to be "sopra valutato".
As I said earlier I have yet to see many of the classics by for instance John Ford and Sam Peckinpah. But something tells me they will feel old and not as perfected in comparison, though I might be wrong.
