I think what makes Blanchett so great to me is that she constantly says, "I just never know if I'll ever work again" after every picture she shoots. And, truth be told, she is right. Hollywood doesn't allow women to work their whole lives. There are a few exceptions, but you never know if you are an exception to the rule or not. I think Cate's initial theatrical experience in Australia allowed her to realize how difficult and competitive the industry can be.

Oh doodle, NOTES was fantastic! One of the best pics of the year I thought. How Mirren beat Dench is BEYOND me--but I like those loopy, angst-ridden performances.
