Mr. Roxy, in regard to your first post, that wouldn't be the case (with Casablanca, et cetera).
"The only exception to that rule are films where the smoking is historically important like "Good Night, and Good Luck," which depicted the life of chain-smoking journalist Edward R. Murrow. The film was rated PG, meaning that parents could take older children to see it. Under the new rules, that rating would have remained the same, an MPAA official said."
I mean, I'm just assuming, but I think Casablanca falls under that category.

No lung damage at all. HUGE waistlines though.
is this the tashkin study? the one that's talked about in salon that came out last year?
I have much more concern over boys treating girls like "bitches" & "hos" because of music/movies, then I do of them picking up a cigarette because they saw someone in a movie do it. When I was 12, I didn't start smoking because of a movie, i did it because we were bored and stupid and thought we were doing something "forbidden". When do we start making kids (and vicariously their parents) have some responsibility of realizing that a movie is a movie, not real life??
