Remember how some people took me to task for saying that the problem is fundamentalism of any kind? And thought I was being heretical when I compared radical Christian fundamentalists to radical Muslim fundamentalists?
I found the following article very illuminating.
"It has been a topic of some confusion, the meaning of George Bush's religious beliefs. Some commentators trumpet the president's ties to Howard Ahmanson, a fantastically wealthy Californian who is an acolyte of the 'Christian Reconstructionist' movement—which aims to place the United States under Biblical law (though Ahmanson proclaims himself personally against, say, the stoning of homosexuals). Others point up his connections to apocalyptic millennialists like Tim LaHaye, co-author of the Left Behind novels. The problem is that, theologically, Bush can't serve both these masters at once."
The Divine Calm of George W. Bush
" He thinks he's doing the proper thing. "
And believe it or not 48-52% of American citizens think that too... I don't know if that's an "excuse" for actions. I'm not sure my faith allows me to encourage a war. But I am sure that I believe that in the long run, he's been doing the proper thing at least 52% of the time. A different opinion than most around this board. But that is why we have checks and balances. I also think he is a better choice than John Kerry.
But that is only my opinion. It could change, and it may be wrong.

Of course he's a better choice. The Christian god hand-picked him! And "the jury's still out on evolution!" In a word: Hahahahahahahahahaha.
heh heh, i read that wrong and thought you said that the christian "hand god" picked him.
I don't know why I think this, but I don't buy Bush's religious 'convictions' one bit.
he's a politician, master, it goes against most people's natures to believe anything they say...ever.

Maybe it's the fact that one of the things he has difficulty pulling off is sincerity?
now see, namo, that one of the areas in which you and i differ. he had me at, "evildoers."
Okay, so--according to the almighty polls--were worried we are losing the war on terror, more convinced that we are vulnerable to attack, and more certain that the invasion of Iraq has put us at greater risk........and still these same polls show we'd rather have Bush as president than Kerry.
Either Kerry has not got the message out there (too early to tell), the polls are bull****, or we are truly a nation of idiots.
hehehehehe, rove finally listened and the plan is working! a-hahahaha...soon i will be ambassador to jamaica and head of in house ganja testing!
there is of course another option, borstal: as f***ed as things are, people feel that jfk2 will make them even worse. sometimes it's better the devil you know.
Teresa Heinz Kerry should be president. She's the only one who really speaks her mind.
I'm still reeling from the "God called him to run for President" part.
