Seems like when the current lease is over , in 2009 I believe , the Donald wants to take over & bring it back to its glory days
He wants to unload his casinos so I guess he wants a new toy to play with.
Same NY daily that reported the L&O C.I. story

Conversely, when we ate there last year, it was one of the few 'iconic' experiences that even remotely lived up to its reputation.
For a real slap-in-the-face, look no further from Broadway than Sardi's.

The first time I ever walked into Tavern on the Green, I looked into the center of the room and sitting at a table, under the green chandelier, was Harrison Ford.
I will love it forever.
A click for life.

Mamie - that made me laugh! I'd probably try to move in
As I said, every year we try and do one 'iconic' thing, and frankly, it's my least favorite part of the trip. So many disappointments - The Algonquin, Sardis, etc. But, it is what it is, and I'm thankful that at least the night we went there, it wasn't a complete horror show.
If Trump takes it over, I can't even imagine what will happen.

Yup
Anytime a waiter did not do their job to his satisfaction, he takes them into the kitchen & says "You're Fired"

I know what you mean. I've tried to do iconic things and they don't seem to live up to their legend. My latest disappointment was eating at Delmonicos. I guess I just have to live in iconic New York through movies and books.

Posted: 3/13/07 at 11:00pmthe last time i ate there was a couple of years ago, and anything special that it had (granted i've only been there twice and the first time i was little and told that it was important and special) was long gone... but that can be said for lots of restaurants and venues...
