Want to skip ahead to 10%, 20%, 80% of the way through whatever YouTube video your college roommate sent you? Google made a shortcut that takes you there with the push of a button. Here's how:

Once you've paused your video of choice, type 1 to skip to 10% in, 2 for 20%, 3 for 30%, and so on. That's it!

I don't get what's so exciting about this.

How is this better that just dragging the line over?

It says you can fast forward or rewind with "surgical precision" but isn't that only if you want to get to precisely to a point that's 10%, 20%, etc in?

YouTube barely works for me on Vista 64 bit. Ridiculous.

And this solves that problem?

I think this is useful, though I wouldn't go so far as surgical precision.

On my laptops, if I drag the little button thing over, I have two wait for the video to catch up, which can take several seconds--and sometimes just causes the video to freeze.

I tried this method just now, and it works. But no, not surgically.

Morosco, just out of curiosity, why did you go with a 64-bit OS? Do you do graphics-heavy work of some kind?

I went with a 64 bit operating system simply because I was naive and I didn't do research on 64 bit before purchasing. I've regretted my decision ever since.
