That's interesting, I hadn't thought of that. I think the honesty he brings to the role is what makes Ned so lovable, quirks and all.
I would actually love to see Lee play a villian because I think he's so gifted at making all of his characters just really lovable people. Even in The Fall, when you figure out what Roy is trying to do.

So I just watched The Fall, which is actually kind of a strange movie. But OMG was so uber ridiculously heartbreaking in it! So. good. It made me even MORE in awe of his incredible acting talent.
And plus he reminded me of Johnny Depp in it :) Which is wierd cause I hadn't so much ever thought he looked that much like Johnny (maybe it's just cause Johnny's on the small/short side and Lee's uber tall haha), but he definitely REALLY looked like him in this movie I thought.
Still need to see all of Soldier's Girl *sigh*

I'm pretty sure it was always at 8 and paired with Private Practice at 9.
Tonight's episode was fantastic. Much stronger and better-paced than last week's. I know the ratings weren't great for the premiere, but I hope people give the show another chance. Even the really obvious jokes were terrific, and the dark, wicked sense of humor was much more apparent tonight. Last week's mystery was a little sugar-coated, bee monster or not.

Posted: 10/9/08 at 7:54pmI have to say, last nights episode kept me guessing a bit more than the others have. I also noticed they put Ned in a lighter colered shirt. That kinda surprised me.

Last night's episode was great, though I did think they wrapped it up rather quickly.
I just got "Soldier's Girl" from Netflix yesterday.

Posted: 10/9/08 at 10:40pmthis is such a great show! i finally finished season 1 and now am totally caught up with season 2... my only problem with the show, and i'm probably the only one, is i'm not really a fan of the actress that plays Chuck. I think everyone on the show works really well, but not her. Shes not a bad actress, she just... doesnt work. Her chemistry with Ned, the idea that shes the love interest for Ned (when Kristin Cheno is more attractive and likable)... i dunno... nothing draws me to her.

DBilly, ENJOY Soldier's Girl! It is a beautifully put-together film. And Lee Pace is beyond brilliant.
And cubanpab, I have to admit that I am surprised you don't think Anna Friel works as Chuck. There are moments when she annoys me, but I feel she really wears her wardrobe beautifully. I think just the idea of Kristen Chenoweth as Ned's interest seems funny to me, just because of their height difference. I am in general not a fan of Kristen Chenoweth, but I do have to admit, I am rooting for OLIVE to hook up with Ned. But a lot of that may have to do with me wanting to see the blue-balled man get some action.

Yeah, it's SO hard for me to take any notion of Ned/Olive seriously just because.. there's SUCH a huge height difference! haha. It's just WIERD to me lol.
There's a big height difference between Anna and Lee too because Lee's just super tall, but.. for some reason I feel like it works better. I personally LOVE Lee and Anna's chemistry :) They're pretty much the cutest ever.
Speaking of their chemistry, the ending of this weeks episode was ACTUALLY too cute for words <33

Posted: 10/10/08 at 9:52amYeah, I agree nygrl. I find myself thinking "get over her". I just don't know how long they are gonna drag out the them not being able to touch thing. I don't care how saintly and adorable you are- the bottom line is people have needs. And when you least expect it, you meet new people. He needs a new girl. A touchable girl.

awww... call me old fashioned or whatever, but I don't WANT them to break up anytime soon!
In fact, I think physical love is way over rated in most TV shows and movies. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice fan and all that, but there comes a point when it's like.. god, is sex ALL anyone on TV does anymore?? So I personally find it refreshing how Ned and Chuck have this relationship based PURELY on the fact that they'd rather have each other in their lives and not be able to touch than not have each other in their lives at all :)
I mean, yes, eventually I'd think it has to end, because like.. can people really go their entirely lives not ever having sex? They probably COULD but it sure wouldn't be easy! Because obviously with Ned and Chuck, it's not like they could go have sex with other people and then come back to each other and be okay with that. It wouldn't fly with them. It would be cheating just like it would in any other relationship. And yet... aren't you bound to go a little crazy when you have a sex drive and can't use it? haha
But for NOW, I really like their relationship and don't think it's getting old. I'd rather see them be sugary sweet all the time than see them like every other couple on TV: banging, having fights, then banging again, then having fights again, etc.

I like the show, but the sugary sweet thing is only so endurable. I'm glad Chuck and Ned are separated to some degree--Chuck hasn't had an iota of personal space her entire life, and it's ironic that she's getting it in heaps and bounds with the one she most wants to touch.
The show overdoes the treacle, though. It's the style of it, yes. But it would help if they would stop dressing Chuck like a friggin' Stepford wife. All the women on this show look like 60's mannequins, down to the over-exaggerated eye makeup.
All the women on the show are just too damn doll-like and archetyped. It makes my tummy hurt. I can visually appreciate a colorful, imaginative, vintagey outfit and set design and kooky characters but after 48 minutes it's like getting pummeled over the head with the entire inventory of Love Saves the Day.

We just watched The Fall last night.
GREAT MOVIE!
I only know Lee Pace from Pushing Daisies. I have to rent Soldier's Girl with everybody raving about it on this thread. Can't wait.
God, I loved The Fall.

^looove The Fall. and I mean, it's not even my favorite movie in terms of story inside of the story part (it was just confusing and hard to follow for me), but the cinematography is gorgeous, and the "real" story of the movie is soooooo good <3 Both Lee AND that adorable little girl are such good actors, so the whole ending is... really, REALLY heartbreaking. But incredible.
Oh and everyone should see Miss Pettigrew Lives For a Day also if you havn't already- Lee's not in it for too long, but he's SOOOO adorable in it <3 It's just impossible not to love him.

TRUST, it is worth it. He's talking about how he was excited at one point cause he finally got to ride a horse. And how when the girl poked him in the nose, it hurt, etc. All very cute antics!
I rented it from Blockbuster.com but once I watched it, I decided to buy it!
