I saw "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry" last night.I have mixed feelings about the film but was not happy at how they portrayed the gay son. I would be prouder than proud to have a son like that and the father seemed embarassed by his gay son.I think the film had an overall positive message but then again there was alot of hateful jokes in there at the same time. I wonder how many htereosexual Adam Sandler fans actually got the message and if they agree with it.
I felt the son was just there for comic relief and was nothing but the butt of the joke.Just curious how others felt by this.
I haven't seen the movie, but here's another take on it:
Sandler's womanizing bachelor Chuck Levine reluctantly agrees to play the homo husband of his buddy Larry Valentine to help secure pension benefits for Larry's kids—one of whom, a flaming little 'mo named Eric (Cole Morgan), likes to practice numbers from Pippin in an outfit inspired by Flashdance. Oh, snap! Chuck and Larry is the first movie to effectively hijack that all-purpose justification for right-wing bigotry, "protecting the children," and redeploy it as a weapon of the homosexual intifada.

Interesting read.I have to think about it a bit.I'm no Adam Sandler fan but I honestly think he was trying to make a movie that showed tolerance towards the gay community. Only problem is he went about it in sort of a cruel way. Alot of people were offended by THE BIRDCAGE but as many times as I have seen it I just don't see anything offensive.Like I said, I am sort of mixed on this one.
