Hey guys!
I know a lot of us are in the middle of the college audition process right now. I thought it might be helpful to some of us to post about the schools we've auditioned for already, so that others who might be auditioning there will know what to expect.
Nazareth College: I auditioned there yesterday. There were only four of us auditioning for the musical theater major, but it was a very long day. I really enjoyed myself! The people are so friendly, and I was completely at ease the whole time with them. The day started out with a short music theory placement exam, which was followed by a very short piano and sight singing placement exam. Next was a short dance class where we learned a very easy routine. Everything went very quickly, but there was a lot of time in between each segment, so the day took forever.
We had a 15 minute rehearsal with the head of the department, and then the audition itself. I performed an art song, a musical theater piece, and two contrasting monologues. Then, the head of the theater dept. worked with me a little on different ways to act the monologues, and then I had the interview. It was so friendly and comfortable. They just sat me down and asked me to talk about myself. All in all, a very easy and relaxing audiiton.
I'll be auditioning at Pace University tomorrow, but anybody who has auditioned anywhere, please post about it!

I did a similar thread last year, but be aware that I applied to some schools for MT and others for vocal performance. Of the schools at which I auditioned, I only got accepted to Crane. Though I was offered a full scholarship, I had to turn it down for reasons beyond my control. I now attend Brandeis University.

Pace University: Did thsi today. I'm not very confident. They get so many applicants. I feel that I did pretty well, but the lady playing piano for me messed up and wasn't very good. Even though I feel like I did well, they didn't even interview me. They just had me sing, do my monologue, and leave. I don't feel like i've got a very good chance of getting in.
What a day.

I haven't been interviewed once yet... I've auditioned at Syracuse, Ithaca, and Marymount Manhattan. Syrcause and Marymount were a ton of fun, everyone I met was really nice and all of the students seemed like they adored their schools/programs. Marymount is a group audition; we sang and did our monologues in front of everyone else. I thought it would be super nerve wracking, but it was pretty neat to hear all of the critiques and be able to use them and listen. The dance was pretty basic, I have minimal dance training and I picked up on it pretty quickly.
Ithaca I didn't get the best vibe from, and I sang like trash so I'm not planning on getting accepted there haha, I'm going to NYU next week, and I'm almost positive that's the only school I get an interview at- all the rest just see me sing/act and that's that. Good luck to everyone at all of your auditions!
