Where was it? What time did you eat it at? What were you wearing? What was the waffle's smell? What did it taste like?

Smell? It cannot be compared to anything. It left me beyond words.
I was wearing my typical plane attire: lovely jeans and sweatshirt, but that was when I was going through my slip-on sneaker phase...let's not even go there.

There is a little shop by Ben Yehuda Street in Jerusalem, and another one by the windmill there.
The waffle lady is famous. Best waffles ever, hands down.

Call me crazy, but I prefer good old toaster waffles - cooked long enough so that they are crunchy on the outside - in other words, until they are right on the verge of burning.
I don't care for the big, sponge-y waffles served at your typical breakfast restaurant.

Posted: 3/4/07 at 9:35amI make a wonderful waffle, from scratch from a recipe I developed for a waffle-loving friend. Buttermilk, some malt powder and using a quarter rice flower in place of the all-purpose are a couple of the tricks. Then use REAL maple syrup that you keep warm. Mmmmmmmmmmmm.
