The Health-care/Immigration Reform Nexus#1

I saw this one from coming a mile away. IMO the GOP is now shaping the health-care debate. I gotta give the Repubs credit for generating a turnover while the Dems mounted an ineffective figure four formation. It's still a bit of a stretch for me to connect health-care reform with immigration reform, but if the WaPo is picking up the chatter then the GOP can declare victory.

This latest GOP stratagem, thanks to FAIR, effectively sounds the death knell for the public option effectively making any health-care reform a useless waste of time & resources. Without the public option, retirement of debt to China and wholesale recovery of the residential housing market, I don't see the American way of life as sustainable. I hate to think that our better days are behind us.

FAIR vs Obama over Health-Care

"I don't see the American way of life as sustainable."

It hasn't been for some time - and shouldn't be. Time for us to join the rest of humanity on the real planet.

Yeah, and not just with respect to healthcare. The window of consumerist, very wasteful living couldn't stay open forever. Let's hope we're capable of striking a balance, and soon.

Perhaps altruism is the ideal, but how do we keep the Republic from disintegrating right before our very own eyes? We're all in the same boat here.

As a Libertarian, I'm firmly opposed to bigger government but the alternative, bigger corporatism, is the greater of two evils. I fail to understand why Dems in power have been unsuccessful in pointing out that, prior to Obama, practically all the federal bailouts of major US corps occurred while a Repubs occupied the White House.

Without exception, the largest slice of the federal contracting pie goes to DOD & DHS contractors which are all US-based multinational corps. I'm starting to agree with many Progressives who suggest that Obama has been Dubya-lite. It's obvious he doesn't want to touch immigration reform, DOMA, or Afghanistan until his second term if he should be so fortunate.
