The Joe Horn Shooting Controversy

The Joe Horn Shooting Controversy

The Joe Horn Shooting Controversy#1

I'm surprised there hasn't been much made of this on this board. As a Texan, this case has very recently perked my ears up. Basically, for those not in the know, a man by the name of Joe Horn called 9-1-1 to report a break-in at his neighbor's house. Growing extremely disturbed by the sluggish response time of the police, he decided to take the law into his own hands by going outside to shoot and kill the two burglars. After that, the case becomes a twist of facts that are constantly disputed so I will only put what everyone generally agrees to have actually happened.

What do you guys think about this? Is it right to take the law into your own hands in this way? Did he do a good thing or did he do a bad thing? There are reports that the two burglars were illegals. Does this color your view of the situation? It's an interesting, tricky case.

There wasn't much discussion there, but a few people responded.

Anyway, I'm of mixed feelings about it. On one hand, I think he sounded (on the tape) like he was hell bent on shooting to kill. On the other, he did also sound scared.

I will say that he does sound contrite now that it's all over and that he wished it hadn't happened.

Dammit! I searched all over and couldn't find anything.
