I think there will be improved picture and sound.

Well, the cover says THE JUDY GARLAND SHOW With Liza Minnelli so maybe they're superimposing Liza onto every episode. Think FORREST GUMP.
Vita, dulcedo, et spes nostra
Salve, Salve Regina
Ad te clamamus exsules filii Eva
Ad te suspiramus, gementes et flentes
O clemens O pia

"I think there will be improved picture and sound. "
Impossible. The last restoration was impeccable. They could possibly mix the sound differently but thats pretty stupid since it already was restored . I see on Amazon that the pioneer collection is still available as sets. The booklets in it are wonderful as are the extras. It sounds like just remarketing of the same stuff.

Dame, are you talking about the two big box sets? There may be copies available on Amazon Marketplace through secondary sellers, but the sets are still out of print.
I hope that's not the final cover art for volume one; they misspelled "Minnelli."

There is great skepticism among the online Judy community: These people cannot be very competent if they misspell "Minnelli" with only one "n."
After all, Liza sings a friggin' song about how to spell her name.
And no one believes the 2-inch video has been remastered again, given what a good job was done on the last one.
Oh, well. At least they'll be available again.

Well, it's a Yahoo group, and its real name is "The Judy Garland Experience," but I couldn't very well have called it THAT, now, could I?
It would have exposed me to relentless ridicule from the snarky likes of people like you.

Sounds like these episodes will be in order. When Pioneer came out with the 2 boxed set editions, they were not in order.
I'm sure that this new release, will ultimately have a boxed set, vs. buying each dvd separately.

I am a follower of Fundamentalist Judy-ism.
I declare fatwas on producers who lie about remastering.
(Sometimes skinnywas too, depending on the color of the pills I am taking.)

I too find it impossible to believe how these could be remastered any better. I have the two previous "trunk" boxed sets, which I treasure. They also have a remixed 5.1 audio track which is amazing. Anyway, as PJ said, at least they'll be available again -- and my ex can finally get his own.

I *heart* you DAME!

Posted: 6/12/09 at 11:50amI own the two boxed sets. They're the crown jewels of my DVD collection. They're not going to get any better. Possibly, if they were being released on Blu-ray; but not standard DVD.
