Just getting back from the second most beautiful city in the country, San Francisco, my friend Raquela came up from LA and we had a ball...As I was getting on the train to come back to Oregon, she gave me this book, The Kindness of Strangers, a true story of a man who hitchhiked from San Francisco to North Carolina with no money, just a backpack...

I couldn't put the book down...a superior read...He tells the story of all the people he meets along the way...It made me weep twice...but it is also very funny...A wonderful summer read.

After reading this book, my friend got the idea of going to Manhattan and try to stay for a month on 2000 dollars...Well that has now changed to 3000 dollars...Good Luck Raquela...I hope you can do it...
