I read BLOOD MERIDIAN and was blown away by it, so that's not it.
Nope. More like I'm not a fan of easy exercises in Bleak Chic, that's all.
Opinions will differ, clearly. One person's easy piece of Bleak Chic is another's profound examination of the nature of evil.

Marion Cotillard gave what is probably the best performance I've ever seen on film.
Singtopher, while I personally reserve that title for Meryl Streep in SOPHIE'S CHOICE, I do think Marion Cotillard gave a fascinating, haunting, and incredibly (and painfully)) real performance. I must confess I originally enjoyed it but thought Christie deserved the Oscar, but the more I see it, the more and more great I think it gets. I personally think her performance is in a completely different level from Kate Winslet's and Helen Mirren's performances (I thought Penelope Cruz' turn in VOLVER was far more original and wonderful than Helen Mirren's portrait of The Queen), and Reese Witherspoon's and Sandra Bullock's mediocre winning performances shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as Cotillard's.
I'm with Roscoe and the others, I thought NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN was one of the most pretentious (and dull) movies I've seen in a while. Apart from Javier Bardem (my pick for Best Supporting Actor of the last 5 years), I enjoyed nothing about this film.
