The Last Temptation of Christ

I'm watching the film on my Tivo--I recorded it last night.


Quite a CONTROVERSIAL film when first released--I understand theatres that showed it actualy got PICKETED!

Believe it or not, Dollypop actually saw this film.

It's long--and I question certain scenes--like Jesus watching Mary Magdalene while she worked in the whorehouse--but its "temptation" is hypothetical and therefore not offensive.

Incidentally, it features the most accurate depiction of the Crucifixion on film. I don't know how Willlem Defoe was able to hold that position without causing serious health problems.

I'd say "thumbs up".

A marginal Thumbs Up. I think the concept of Christ getting off the cross to pursue all of these "temptations" is fascinating. However, Harvey Keitel's acting is a joke and the film (like many Scorsese films) meanders.

The movie has highs and lows - Defoe was exceptional, I thought. Visually very intriguing.

Wonderful soundtrack.

Doesn't hold a candle to the book, which is extraordinary. Actually made the Judas situation make sense.
