Was James Coburn's charachter suppose to be Sondheim?

Unfortunately, most of those fantastic game boards Sondheim used to have as wall paper were destroyed in a fire many years ago. He still has some pretty cool games lying around.
He used to write crosswords for New York Magazine. They were beyond HARD! as you might imagine.

Unfortunately, his poodle Max (such a sweetie) also was killed in the fire.
One of my favorite game parties at Sondheim's is "Camouflage":
Each guest is paired off and given a list of items (i.e., "Office Supplies--compass, rulers, erasers, etc"). The items will be in plain view but carefully camouflaged. For example, a silver thumbtack might be stuck onto a silver cribbage board to look like a rivet. The point of the game is for each team to convey to the game master what and where they found the item and to NOT let anyone else know where or if they found it!
This can make for very interesting party dynamics. Don't forget, booze, etc. should flow freely during the game.

Posted: 3/13/07 at 6:15pmThe Last of Sheila is a great movie. I really loved it before I knew it was a Sondheim movie, a fact that makes me enjoy it even more. It is one of the rare movies in which the audience has a legitimate chance of figuring out who the villain is, but is also very entertaining outside of the mystery aspect. The mystery part is very clever, and Joan Hackett and James Mason are both fantastic. I only wish that Sondheim and Perkins had written more screenplays -- I would have loved to have seen what else they would have come up with.
