The Late Show is staying in NY
What a surprise to learn that the state had to pay CBS, yes pay them, to keep it here. All it costs is $ 11 million over 5 years in tax credits plus $5 million to renovate the theater. This is like a facility fee on steroids - the audience paying the theater owners to improve their property.
The coincidence is CBS has been a hefty donor to Cuomo's campaign. My what a coincidence . Good return for CBS . They contribute $47,500 since 2010 to his reelection campaign and get back $ 16 million. Good for CBS but not so for the state.
Trust me Roxy, California would probably have paid a similar amount to have it moved to LA. After the Tonight Show left Burbank, a lot of jobs went with it, along with other state income associated with the show and its guests.
If Colbert was seriously considering moving the show to SoCal, that was money well spent. Had it moved to LA, I can only imagine the crying about NY not doing enough to keep it.
The amount of jobs, and money that is put into the local community by the Late Show being here is well worth the money spent in keeping it here.

Roxy adores capitalism even though he hates it most of the time.
He's a variation on Fannee Doolee.
