The New Apple Tablet

Rumors of an Apple tablet ? essentially a large iPhone or iPod touch ? have been swirling for over a year. Today the Financial Times is adding credibility to the rumors, reporting that Apple is rushing to debut the device in time for the Christmas shopping season.

The article swings back and forth between the new device and a series of record label deals Apple could launch simultaneously, but here are the points specifically related to the tablet:

Screen size: ?may be up to 10 inches diagonally?, touch sensitive (of course)

Phone capability? Unlikely ? it?s more like a large iPod Touch than an iPhone.

Wireless connectivity: Same as the iPod Touch, with the ability to download media through iTunes.

Kindle Rival? May provide the ability to read books, creating a rival to Amazon?s Kindle.

Launch date: By Christmas, possibly as early as September.

This is extremely cool.

But I am an avid supporter of anything shiny and made by apple.

Don't think I'll replace my macbook with this quite yet, however.

What,will they stop making money? Why should they stop? Besides,everyone copies from Apple and a year from now there will be several similar products like this that are cheaper that will sell like hot cakes. Never could understand people's anger towards Apple trying to compete or grow.

I too am an Apple fan. While this is cool, I don't think I'd want it. I like my laptops to have a separate keyboard and screen.

I love Apple as well. I know so many people who hate Apple and Macs but have ipods or iphones. I say if you hate it so much,don't buy one. Still, I laugh my ass off every time I watch this video.

It actually makes perfect sense. Apple computers are very popular among the crowd working with art and digital graphics. Tablets are also very popular with that group. Seems natural that Apple would make one.
