You all must know about this. It's been around in various forms for a few years. You get an email that goes into a long, convolutred story of some persecuted person in some foreign country needing your help to move money to teh US.......just send your bank account info and they'll deposit 5 million into, you get to keep half for your troubles.

They hit every website and have finally gotten to BWW. I got a pm this morning telling me how I could gain 2.5 million dollars for helping them out. Wonder what took so long for them to make their way here.

I hope that you reported it as abuse.

Did you get it since you've been online this morning, or was it already there?

It came while I was online. I think their perferred method is to contact people who are currently logged onto a site.
I didn't report it. There isn't much that can be done about it. They go to every site they can find where people log on and post messages. I just started a thread about in case there is anyone out there who has never heard of this and would be stupid enough to interact with them....even to tell them that you know it's a scam. Best to delete and ignore.

"I didn't report it. There isn't much that can be done about it."

Sure there is. In order to contact you they have to register. If they are registered they can be deleted as a user. If they try to register again, from the same IP address, they can be blocked from registering. They should be reported to see that this abuse is not spread to other users.

I thought that might be it. I blocked myself from showing in the "Who's Online", and I didn't get one.

Reporting it would get their account deleted, but they'd probably just open a new one another day. It's amazing to me that people can still fall for these things.

I got a random PM from someone who's never posted... the subject line was an email address, and the body of the message said:

reading harry potter books writting hanging out with friend from high school watching dvds and collecting beanie babies

That's it. WTF?
