I do love people paying attention to me.
So not this summer, but the summer before, my family went to Hilton Head with another family. All was good and fun until about Wednesday. I was just innocently frolicking in the waves along the beach, about ankle-midcalf deep... and I stepped on something. I thought it was a nail, it was like a giant burning needle in my foot. So I ran screaming out of the ocean, expecting my foot to be mangled, but there was hardly any blood at all. So my dad, upon finding me, got mad because I made a big deal over what appeared to be nothing. He finally got me back to the house (walking distance), but I still wouldn't quite carrying on... it hurt like hell. I can't describe it. So I suffered for several hours, ice and advil couldn't stop it. Later that night, I felt this wierd kind of constricting pain moving through my foot. It was venom. I knew no one would listen if I whined again, so I decided I wouldn't say anything unless it got worse... it was really kind of freaky because I could feel it going through my veins and all and I didn't know what it was doing. After a couple of hours it had pretty much run its course and I was exhausted and mad so I went to sleep. Next morning, my foot had this huge purple bruise on the whole bottom and you could see where the stingray had pierced it- big black puncture wound. That was when people started going, 'oh, maybe that was kind of painful'.
This is long, so I'll stop and summarize- it got swollen and the bruising continued for about a month, followed by this wierd allergic reaction to either an infection or lingering venom that made it itch like insanity. I literally couldn't stop even thought I'd scratched it raw, it was drove me crazy. Tissue neucrosis and more bruising... hurt to walk on it and it itched for months, even after the bulk of it had gone away. Even now, over a year later, that spot still has no feeling to it and the veins look a little odd.
And that's most of it.
Oh my god that sounds SO painful!! Eww! (Esp the vein part.)
Bet you made your parents feel guilty like mad, right?
Holy crap. That's scary **** right there. I'm so sorry!

Oh, you know it. When it still hurt a month later, they were very sorry that they rolled their eyes at the time. It's like a poisoned nail shoved into the arch of your foot, very bad.
So does her leg look deformed?

Is my leg deformed? Not at all. You can see some damage on the bottom of my foot, but otherwise it's fine now. It got icky though... the venom killed the tissue around the wound and it kinda peeled off and I had to cut some of it. There was also this jet black bruise there in the middle. It was really sensitive.
Aww that is NASTY. (I'm not a foot person. hehe)

What do stingray look like?
Who are these feet people?
lol I'm not a person who particularly enjoys feet, i mean. i dated a guy with a foot fetish once and i was grossed out, even though it's my feet he liked.

Does anyone else remember a cartoon called Shoe People, or did I just dream that? A village, where all the inhabitants just happened to be talking shoes!

Thanks Delphine! Now I know what to avoid.

Night all!
Continue this garrulousness...

'Night Ellie. (I already said my goodnights on the Angst thread, but what the hell.)
'Night, ya'll. Fry mah hide!
F*CK. What am I still doing on this thread?? I thought I was supposed to have signed off! Argh. I'm procrastinating. This is ridiculous.
Hey, does anyone know how to save songs on CD onto the computer?
Nia...I was "diagnosed" by the doctor type people who do that kind of thing. I dunno what they're called, but my 2nd grade teacher had the first notion I might be "gifted".
tiff baby...put the cd into your drive and then go to your copy program. i.e Roxio or what have you, then select the tracks you wish to save and click the button labelled "convert". it should save them in wav. format to your pc hard drive.
Seeing as we've got a nice little conversation about books going on the other thread, and seeing as this is the official "threadjacking" thread, and the subject title has remained "Next year's RENT...movie" throughout our conversation of stingrays, here's where I'm going to do a RENT-related rant a little. Got a problem with that?
I'm so sick and tired of people seeing posts from cast members and then fawning over them and pretending they're their best friends, when, away from said cast members, they're catty, mean-spirited, fight amongst each other, and have even more than once been critical of the same cast members that they praise like they're the best creation since processed cheese.
Yes, I'm talking about the response to Anthony posting publicly (and this is more aimed at the folks at CB, although I'm sure if I look on BWW's thread, it's occurring here too), as well the reaction to a couple of current tour cast members on that board.
There are some people who are sincere in their appreciation of these castmates (sometimes a little...too...appreciative), but then you get the other 50% of the Assholes who treat everyone else like **** and snark about each other and the cast, and then once they have a cast member's attention, they fall over themselves to flatter them.
Disgusts me.
:: end rant ::
Wow this really would have been better in the angst thread. Thanks for listening.

It's ok, we all threadjack. And I agree.
Interesting, Guido. Very interesting. I've never heard of that before. Would you share details or am I prying? If I am, just say so and I'll shut up.
And guys, pleasepleaseplease no stingray pictures. They make me sick, I can't look at them.
Another threadjack. Is it sad that the fangirl part of me nearly peed myself when I saw that Anthony posted again and that he's online right now? (At least I'm not the fawning gushing rabid fan that I despise though!)
