Man, I used to watch figure skating all the time, and this year I haven't seen a thing.
Kwan is pretty old for an amateur, and she was never the most outstanding athletic skater- can she hit those quads? Anyway, it doesn't matter- I adore her skating. She has a real sense of music and how to perform, which a lot of the great jumpers have no clue about. But I doubt she's getting her Olympic gold medal at this point, even with all the deference she gets from judges.

Posted: 1/15/05 at 9:32pmI think she's past 'gold point' too, Plum. She's pure grace on ice, but I don't think she has the spark that she needs for it and I definetly think she'll be worn out in four years. Twenty-four is old- some of the girls there are fifteen or younger. As for quads, women never do them.

I didn't say I thought she would get it, I just said I would have liked to see her get one.. she is a great skater, and yes grace and flow and music interpretation wise she puts the younger ones to shame

I thought you were going to miss G&D anyway? I guess you must have beat your aunt into submission - anyway...U2's tour is so long, couldn't you save some money and fly to see them in October at Madison Square Garden? Or are you not rich?
Hmmm...not much help...but sympathies. *puts out Tiff's hair with fire extinguisher*

I was going to miss G&D, and then I told my aunt that I had connections that could "likely" get us tickets for May 20, in hopes that this would change her mind. It's so frustrating though because we'll be in London on May 21 (my tickets and opening preview is on May 20 ARGH), but there aren't any tickets available for the evening show anymore. And I'm definitely NOT rich--I can't even afford law school in the fall. So MSG seems out of reach
(Vegas in November maybe!). So I guess that's it, eh? Stick with the the new itinerary, see U2 (which comes the DAY BEFORE I LEAVE!) and then try to find tickets for G&D later on that week (since I'll be in London from May 21-27)--it's sort of a win-win situation, right?

*nods* Okay, so I'm making the right decision. *nods vigorously* *needs a cigarette*
Have a good night guys! I'll be back later on this evening.
