I was just thinking, what could he possibly be doing in New York though if he wasn't working on his album? My guess is he isn't recording but more likely collaborating with Larry on new material. I highly doubt that he is just visiting because the man was just here for over a week not even a month ago, not to mention I doubt he'd miss Halloween with his family if he didn't have a good reason.
I just hope that when he does record the record he doesn't include any of the Broadway material he performed on tour. Didn't he mention in some interview or another that he at least thought about it? I love the Broadway stuff, almost more so than his original material, however I can only see it working as a live show.

Someone actually posted on LiveJournal that the manager at the Post Street Theatre said to all the fans who were waiting in vain for Adam to sign autographs after the Saturday show that Adam was already halfway to the airport with his wife and children, so unless the manager was making that up in an attempt to get the fans to leave, it's possible they're all out here. He could be collaborating with Larry on new material, but Larry told me that new album is completely written. It's possible Adam decided that he wants to perfect it, though.
Adam actually said at the Queens concert that they're going to put the Broadway material on the new album. I don't know if it's definite, considering there are probably rights issues involved, but it sounds like he at least wants to do so.
Well, according to someone at the Post Street Theater, he's here with his family, but I agree with your reasoning otherwise. Larry was in LA in July working on writing with Adam, and I believe he told someone everything was written for the new CD. I think they're starting to record now. People here are used to cast recordings coming out in the blink of an eye, but that's not the norm. Most albums take months to record, mix and manufacture.

Right, but Adam said he was recording the album next summer. I guess it's possible he meant that it would be released then, because he was talking about his other album's release dates right before that.
I don't want to like, concern myself with this all, but it's just so frustrating that no one can give his own fans definitive information.
It seems so strange that he'd wait until next summer to record, especially if it isn't a matter of writing. Aren't tours usually aimed at promoing an album? I guess this one is more general, though. Or maybe he has an idea for something else to do between now and then?

And yeah, none of us get him.
It does seem strange... what's the point of the hiatus until January if there's nothing new being launched before the start of the winter tour?
If he's putting the Broadway material on the CD, does that mean Glory's going to be there, too? It would be nice to hear a recording that does him full justice.
I don't think he'd ever put Glory on one of his solo CDs. Even if he is more open to performing it these days, what's the use? He's done 2 professional recordings of it already.

I really don't want him to put it on his new album, but it could be a selling point. I think most people who are going to buy his album are going to buy it regardless of if Glory is on it or not, but maybe it'll entice some people to buy it if the cover says "featuring One Song Glory from Rent." I don't know.
Can you guys give me the link to the Live Journal Page that has this info? I'm only aware of the one affiliated with adam-pascal.com and I don't see anything there. I didn't see his family there at the shows, however, I'm pretty sure the guys at the Post St. Theater were saying he left the building just to get people to leave. At least on Friday I believe this to be true, because we left way after we had been told he had gone and Adam walked out of the venue and right by me on the street. I guess his family could have been there, but if they were at the shows I would have noticed...

Oh, I have no doubt that the staff would probably say Adam left the venue before he actually did, but it's strange that they would specifically mention he was with his wife and kids (on Saturday, anyway) if he wasn't. It's also possible that he left with them on the plane, but they weren't at the shows. I guess it doesn't really matter either way, and I think it sounds like I'm dangerously approaching stalker territory (), but here's the link:

You all never fail to impress me with your scope of knowledge when it comes to Adam. So maybe he is on vacation.
And as far as the album goes, what is the point of making a studio recording of the exact same live show that you will have been playing for over a year? It doesn't make sense.
Many independent labels, although I admit to knowing very little about his, will not front recording costs so maybe the reason he isn't yet recording is that recording is expensive and he does't yet have the funds to make the kind of recording he wants. Just a thought.

Me? All I do is search blogs for reviews after shows, heh! It's amazing what you can find on the internet.
Well... his new album isn't going to be the same exact show he's been playing. Larry told me that they wrote 12 new songs, and they've played only four of them at shows. Also, I wonder if the album's sound will be quite as stripped down as what we heard live. I definitely agree that the Broadway stuff doesn't belong on there, though, although I'm really partial to his cover of What I Did for Love.
Well I am impressed nevertheless. I've tried to dig up information on various individuals and only last about 10 mintes before I become lazy and fully aware that other kind people (such as yourself) will find the info for me.
So Adam and Larry have written 12 songs? That little bit of information makes me feel so much better. I was simply assuming they would record a CD with about about 12 songs, with the Broadway tunes taking up about 5 or so spots.
I too am partial to "What I Did For Love," and it is the one Broadway song I wouldn't mind seeing on the CD, although preferably as a bonus track.
matjomae- I also was thinking about that. I'm hoping that most of the songs are Adam & Larry's own material & maybe 1 Broadway cover like What I DId For Love. I would agree w/ skittles that One Song Glory has already been professionally recorded twice, & it would kinda pointless to record it again. I don't really care if Maria or Maybe This Time isn't on the album.
Next summer seems like lightyears away, but once you blink, it'll already it be June.

Well, Larry specifically told me that they wrote "about 12 songs," so unless he misinterpreted my question and also included the Broadway material, it sounds like there are actually quite a few new songs. Don't hold me to it, though.
Hehe, thanks, Lexi.

Assuming there are 12, I certainly hope we get to hear the eight other ones.
Thanks for the link, Lexi. I was pretty sure it was you who heard about all the songs being written, but I thought I'd better leave it to you to say so or not.
Has anyone else noticed a certain theme emerging regarding Adam and planes? He's always running off in the middle of the night to catch one.
Broadway Legend Joined: 12/31/69
LOL! I'm pretty sure that you should put scare quotes around the word "catch." I think the worst was when his security apparently claimed that he was going to catch a plane when he had a concert in the same city (LA) the very NEXT DAY.
Either he was actually taking a little plane ride that night, or catching planes has become the security all-purpose phrase. At least we know this latest one is genuine, since Adam mentions coming to NY himself in that interview.
I personally wouldn't mind if the music was the exact same as his concerts, as I'm unable to attend any of them. It would be nice to hear his songs clearly. He should release a 2-disc set, new stuff and broadway stuff. He won't, but he should.

Yeah, well, he's decided to disappear.
People used to post about the trivial details of their lives here when things got slow, but I guess the banal thread has taken that over.
For what it's worth, I'm very tired and am looking at an immediate future of even more tiredness.
