I'm finally going to get that damn DVD today. SO excited. But my wallet is not.
$26.99 at Wal-Mart. That'll probably be the cheapest, and I can't even GET to Wal-Mart. So Blockbuster it is!

OK, I'm TRYING to put the deleted scenes back in, but some just aren't cooperating. The cuts in between the scenes are abrupt and somewhat awkward looking. The real problem is the scene between Benny and Roger. I hate to leave it out, but there's no way to put it back in. Benny's phone call replaced it in the final version and the music is already playing over that part, so I can't split it. ARGHHHH!! I guess I'm going to have to leave that one out.
Which ending should I use? Keep the original or swap it with the alternate? Such decisions.

It might be interesting to see it with the alternate ending.
That's cool, Chloe.

I don't know how much editorial ability the program you're working with has, but if you can put some black in between the awkward cuts, and perhaps fade in and out of them, you'd be somewhat emulating the style of the film. As for the Benny/Roger scene, maybe it's a matter of cutting some of the original version out - would that work? I don't have the movie in front of me right now, so that suggestion might not be helpful.

The program I have has quite a bit of flexibility, so that's not really a problem. The fade in/out to black were really only used when transitioning between 2 completely different scenes. The ones that are really awkward are the ending cemetary scene and the end of the "cat fell" scene when Collins and Angel are laughing. Let's just say I can really see why they were cut. They do interrupt the flow. I can't for the life of me understand why Goodbye Love was cut. It looks great being back in. I'm going to play with the transitions, but I don't know if it will look any better.
The Benny/Roger one just won't work unless I get rid of the whole "looking for Mimi" montage. I think the problem is certain scenes were cut earlier than others. This one was probably cut early on in favor of Benny's phone message and the various other phone messages explaining the Mimi situation during the montage. I'm sure Halloween and Goodbye Love were cut at the very end because they are pretty easy to just slip back in.

I had an interesting Adam moment today...we had to read this article about the European colonization of Africa in my Humanities class, and one statement made me start giggling like an idiot:
"The contest between African states and European powers was never equal because of the Europeans' superior arms."
So naturally, I thought of Adam's arms and started cracking up.

I'll do my best to get it to you guys tonight, but like I said, these scenes aren't playing nice. I have the rest done, but now the alt. ending is giving me a headache.

Sorry, had to go away for a while.
What you say makes a lot of sense, tip. I was thinking I'd like it better without the end of the cemetary, going directly from "I can't believe this is goodbye" to the exterior shot of the loft. As for the "cat fell" sequence, what's in the movie is probably cut differently than how it would have been to include the deleted part. The same goes for the Benny/Roger scene, as you pointed out.
I'm sure you're right that Halloween and Goodbye Love were cut last. There were several previews with them in the movie, as I recall.

While I can definately see why some of them were cut, I would also be interested in seeing them back in.

tlp, not to be a pain (I wasn't here earlier to comment), but I personally would prefer to see it with Goodbye Love/Halloween, but with the original ending- more like the stageshow I guess. I don't really like the alternate ending in the context of the movie. If I had these skills/abilities/programs, I would do it myself, but you're currently my only hope. I just know I'll probably watch this version more than Chris Columbus's version.

I'm really glad you said that skittles, because I just decided to leave the original ending for now. The lighting and sound are different between the two and it's just giving me a headache. I'll try and change that one later, but for now I'm going to export it as is. I did keep the other scenes I was struggling with, I just had to play with the transitions a bit. The Benny/Roger one is the only one that's not in it. I'll probably just export it as a .wmv file to make it easy. If that's a problem for anyone, let me know.
I'm off to teacher's conferences now, so I'll post it when I get back.
