Where is everyone tonight? I suppose I don't have too much to add myself, other than I watched two of the new songs again and still think they're as good as they were last night.
I watched the video for the song for Cybele last night, but I still can't watch the other 2.
I got sunburned on my ass today, but nowhere else. It's rather annoying. I'm listening to Chess and about to eat cheesecake.
It's been a start and stop kind of night.
Remember what Adam said on the Charlie Rose show about Rent allowing him to see into Jonathan Larson's soul? That's how I feel about the new songs.
Uh, not Jonatha's soul, obviously. Adam's.

I know what you mean about feeling strange, Lexi, but I'm glad you posted that. Though they're not part of his public persona at all, I have to believe that rage and despair are in that darkness he's fighting. There's a quite wonderful melancholy to these new songs which was also in I'm With You.
Skittles, ouch! What an awful place to get a sunburn. I'll be diplomatic and not ask how exactly that happened.

Hee, Chloe, I think even bringing it up is indirectly doing so.
Exactly.
ETA: Yikes, I didn't realize how late it was. Yet another day of work tomorrow, and it's supposed to feel like 110 degrees. I'm not exagerrating, it's supposed to be very humid and get up to 101º, so the heat index is 110. I was hoping to somehow weasel out of going into the city, but no dice. I'm just praying that there isn't a power outage while I'm riding the subway or something.

It's a strip along the edge of my bathing suit, Chloe. Nothing weird; this is a family beach!
The cheesecake is kind of old, so it wasn't very good.
I always feel weird analyzing song lyrics when it's really personal and not like, metaphorical or generalized song lyrics. I just feel like I'm invading their privacy by looking too closely. Then again, if the man is going to announce to the entire audience that they had sex the previous night, I guess he doesn't want to keep it private...

What's kind of fascinating is that while he sex doesn't need to be private for him, other things obviously do.
Okay, *really* leaving now - goodnight.
*bumps from page 2*
I finally just listened to the songs online and I think they sound great. I can't wait for a new album!

Hello my friends...I'm afraid I've fallen back into my lazy lurking mode...or in the busy end of summer mode. A combo of the two of those...
I should disappear more often though if it means we get new songs...Although I kind of missed the analyzing, I think this light/dark contrast (lyrically and musically) is really interesting...I'll be curious see if it carries into other new music as well...
Sorry I missed you today Amber. It's good you're coming out of lurkdom, too many people seem to be MIA lately.
I haven't listened/watched the new material yet. I've been too busy, I've been having a lot of problems sleeping. I have another long weekend starting friday, so I can watch them then.
Hey Sarah, sorry about your sleep problems. I've had my share too. Do you have trouble falling asleep, or are you waking up too early?
I go to bed around 11:30, and don't fall asleep until around 2, then I have to get up to go to work at 6. I have after work, and it's a better sleep than I get at night time, but if I go without it I just have the same problems at night and I'm cranky all day.

Nothing is worse than working from 5 AM - 1:30 PM.
Trust me!
What awful schedules you two are on. Sarah, is your room totally dark? Do you avoid caffeine after noon? Also, maybe you need to actually go to bed earlier. You may be hitting a more "awake" time at midnight. This happens to me if I stay up past the time when I start to feel sleepy. I wake up again and then have trouble getting to sleep until really late.
Yeah, I just hate feeling that I have no time to myself, because I'm at work all day.
I don't really have caffiene, and I can't sleep in darkness, I have to have my nightlight on. I just started sleeping with a fan, hopefully that will help, I find the heat is really contributing to my problems.
Lexi, that time is horrible, and yet you're always one of the last ones to bed, you must be really fun at work :-P

I know how you feel about your nightlight. When I started living alone again, I felt kind of nervous and would leave a light on nearby. I was also constantly tired and never felt like I got enough sleep, with bouts of insomnia like you're having. I was starting to wonder if I had sleep apnea. It's taken me an awfully long time to figure it out, but a health article a couple of weeks ago said that sleeping with *any* light disrupts melatonin, the sleep hormone. I turned off all the lights and have been feeling much better and more rested ever since.
I didn't go completely cold turkey though. I had a small nightlight on down the hall for a couple of nights, and then was able to turn that off too.
I've had a nightlight since I was little and have never really been without it, I find I actually sleep better with light. I think a lot of my problems have to do with stress, seeing as how the sleeping troubles are compatible with the timeline of my mood disorder. Hopefully when I start seeing a counsellor in September, everything will sort itself out.

But I am! Well, I'm at least better than the girl who comes in hungover, the girl my age who will not stop telling me about the supposed stupidity of my decision to go to NYU, or my boss, who I honestly feel is a vicious woman. My boss messed up the drive thru orders this morning and then had the audacity to blame it all on me. I'm dying to tell her off so badly.
I generally can't get a deep sleep with any sort of light in the room. I've always been like that, though. I have a million phobias, but not the dark.
I used to believe I slept better with light too, but was not getting truly restful sleep. Trust me on this, I've been there. I'm sure stress isn't helping, but I've been feeling quite stressed out myself lately, and this did wonders for me. I worked every day for two weeks, often a 12-hour day, and finally had last Sunday off. I actually had enough energy to go to the gym when I got up Sunday morning. THAT NEVER HAPPENS, so I know something has really changed.
ETA: Lexi, that's incredibly aggravating. I'm so glad you're out of there in a short time.

I sleep really well when it's really quiet & dark. I get very distracted easily. Over the weekend I slept for 17 hours staight. I went camping & we barely got any sleep. I was so disoriented =P
Random: I get to see Hairspray tomorrow! And So You Think You Can Dance! A double plus Too bad it's gonna feel like 110 degrees.
You know, I'm kind of looking forward to the summer being over on some of your behalves so that you can relax a little! You'll be starting your new college too, right, Sarah?
I prefer it to be mostly dark when I sleep, but I know a few people who are really bothered if there's not absolute darkness. That's definitely too much for me. Yet another reason I'm looking forward to having my own room this year: not having to worry about my crazy hours keeping my roommate up.
