Heh, that's probably the fan I shoved in through your ear, Em. I'll turn it off now.
I don't think, other than here, I have ever once been called mature. It terrifies me, because with maturity comes growing up, and that scares the socks of me.
Well, it's not so bad. Yet.
You're just so well spoken!

Not. Yet.
That sure makes me have an optimistic outlook on the future.
Why thanks! I'm sure my English teacher would be ecstatic to hear that, seeing how she's always correcting me on my grammar.
"You ALWAYS put yourself last! It's only polite!"
I actually don't find it that surprising, Em. I think we underestimate the majority of tweens, especially the ones who actually intelligent. I remember resenting being treated like a child when I had fully formed opinions of my own.
*ends meaningful annecdote*
Well, there's grammar and then there's politeness.
I guess maybe it's because twelve seems so far away to me. Like, I used to teach 12 year olds. But on the other hand, the distance, in the grand scheme, is not THAT big. But then again, I sure as hell don't remember what it's like to be twelve. But either way, Cheez Whiz, I thought you were much older!
Yeah, I thought you were older too. It says something when you're able to carry out a conversation with people who are older than you.

I am always reliving such an anectdote, Atrias. When I was in fifth grade and we were taking a tour of the middle school, the sixth graders always called us shrips, or something along those lines, despite the fact that some of us were the same age as them. So I said, "We're not shrimps!" Thus, a supervisor patted my head, and soothingly said, "Of course you're not!" Pissing me off even more.
Em, you used to teach?
CanadianSnowbird: I guess it was also because of my upbringing. My mother had always treated me as a peer and had always considered my ideas and thoughts just as she would a coworker's. Or at least it was like that for as long as I can remember.

Wait...how old are you?
I have the memory of a senior citizen with Alzheimer's.
I'll be 20 in April. Yikes.
Turning 20 was really weird for me. It's like I'm now officially an adult because I'm no longer a teenager, it makes me feel like I'm supposed to act older now or something.

Wow, I didn't know that one was allowed to teach at such an age. I feel the ignorance surging through me.
And everyone in my immediate family was born in April except me. I was born in January. I'm the oddball. :P

I'm really looking forward to turning 20 in May. I couldn't tell you why, though.
Well, it was informal. I didn't need certification or anything.
It's just odd that these are my last months as a child.

I'm not looking forward to turning 13. My mom will be pointing and laughing, singing, "Ha ha, you're a teenager!" Literally, she will.
I think my mom's more childish than I am.
Ugh, and I thought it was bad when I dreaded turning 10.
I got used to it once I accepted that I was no longer a teenager.

Heh, the age difference is astounding.
I'm trying to come to grips of becoming a teenager, while Em is becoming a legal adult.
Well, I am currently a legal adult, but I'm still a teenager.

Duh. 18. Pfft, I definitely knew that.
yr 12 Cheez Whiz? by your writing you sound much older!
i'm 14....don't worry Cheez Whiz turning 13 isn't that bad, it is a little annoying when people start saying "look at you! you are so grown up! YOU ARE A TEENAGER!"
People still look at me and go "OH MY GAWD YOU'RE ALL GROWN UP!"

And are these people relatives. (They just sound like relatives...well, MY relatives).
true em very true...people do that to me too
Yep! And family friends.
I have fun getting when I get carded because people think I'm about 16. They always get these shocked looks on their faces when they find out I'm 20.
