BTW, Tim was fantastic. He played the role in his own way and didn't try to be a Norbert clone. I really enjoyed seeing a new take on the role (though Norbert is very missed, of course). He kept enough of the character that's known but added all of his small touches. He's got a great voice, too.
Oh, Jason Gillman was also out tonight. Not listed in the program, but if he was onstage I'm going blind. I'm not sure who covered the 2 tracks, only one swing was mentioned. But I guess ensemble tracks don't get u/s slips unless they have a named part, right?
I tried to watch the show as if I had never seen it before (since I hadn't seen either of these guys in those roles). Very interesting experience.
The audience was so quiet tonight and really only went a little crazy after a couple of the numbers. (Although they did finally let loose during DRN... you could visibly see Tim and Dennis trying to count to start together after the applause break "I still think we deserve a hand...". They seemed very pleased with the reaction that they got.
Sadly, only a part of the mezz gave a standing O tonight. I was the only one standing for quite awhile, and people were telling me to sit down. Whatever. The actors all gave great performances. Just because people were complaining that the new guys weren't in yet... no reason to take it out on these performers, who gave it their all (and were quite good).
Something I kept noticing- Dennis moves in a very dancer-esque fashion. His Lawrence didn't so much bounce around, he gracefully twirled and leaped- looking every bit the trained dancer. Quite the stark change from Jonathan Pryce just going bezerk out there (although he could dance, too. He just didn't carry himself in a manner that screamed "I've been trained in dance").
Greg, of course, was awesome. But since I was talking about the parts of the show that were different, I didn't bother to mention this constant. LOL.
I'm sooooo tired.
Okay, for anyone that I didn't mention to, I changed my pickup dayh and I'm picking up the stuff I'm supposed to for ppl tomorrow.
Umm yeah im tiredg oodngiht
TELL ME!
thanks amanda! yeah, you do sound tired.

I'll be there, but unfortunately will not be able to help with lotto. I'm helping my friend Kadey win. But I'll definitely see you guys there.
I'm actually good. I don't need help with the lotto. but Ali does.

its cool Kerrie, i mean last week, against all odds, i won on my own!! haha but yeah..is Traci going? i thought she was for some reason. but yeah out of the rest of the people, hopefully everyone can help me out i really appreciate it guys!
HEY EVERYBODY!
well, i know that my attendence here compared to last summer is a lot less, but, i just wanted to tell you guys what happened to me yesterday!
i saw Tarzan last night, and i got to the theater about an hour before the show started. so, i just waited outside of the richard rodgers theater, waiting for the doors to open, and to my surprise, i see GREG walking down the street! so, as he approached me an my friends, i just said, "HI GREG!" and he just looked at me, smiled, and said, "hello!" he OBVIOUSLY didn't know who i was. but, of course, i did not expect him to remember what i LOOKED like, considering that we've only met once last year, and that we only talk to each other via internet.
SO, my friends and me were with me were laughing our heads off, because he didn't recognize me. it was just funny! later that night, as i finished stage dooring tarzan, we walked past the imperial stage door, and i again, i saw greg-signing autographs! but, by that time, i thought it would be too wierd if i yelled out hello again, so i just went home.
so, i just emailed him, and he sent me a very funny email back.
THAT is the reason why i love greg!!
edited: oh, i'm sorry, Barb! you're totally right. i'm sorry.
i took it down.
No, Traci's not going. I wish I could but sadly I'll be sitting here in Upstate NY wishing I could be with all of you guys.
And Dre, I think Greg Fans United would be best. After all Greg does know us at the GFU anyways.
Edit: I just got a call from my friends that I'm going to the party with and realized that the party does not start at 6:00 like thought. It starts at 1:00 which means I'll be missing the whole of the cam on Saturday. Greg, make it good!
Edited again: Jamie, that's so cute of Greg to send you that back. He really is the greatest.
Two more days till the end...
Jamie, how did you like Tarzan?

well, gosh, Ryan, don't say it like that. lol Life ... and Greg ... WILL go on!
Also I don't mean to come in here all the time playing "mom" and getting on people and stuff ... but just to express my own personal opinion here, [edited to say a thank you to Jamie for changing her post. And just a reminder to everybody in general: please remember that celebs, actors, etc. ... people in the public eye ... deserve the same respect for their privacy as anyone else, and that includes personal emails and other correspondence.]
Again, JMO... just call me an old crumudgeon (sp?)!
Hope all of you going to these final DRS performances of Greg's have a great time! btw, I happen to know that after the show Sunday, Greg is going to need to leave the theatre pretty quickly and will basically only have time for hellos at the stage door. Thought I'd mention this so those of you who are going to be there can respect that and help as much as possible with keeping encounters brief. Thanks! :)

Thanks 'Mom'. haha. that is cool. didn't expect that he could spend time with us.
Jamie, that was awesome!
Poor Traci! We will think of you and everyone else that can't make it.
two more days! and I don't know it I can make the afternoon cam. or the evening cam. so Barb, please please please keep a lot of AWESOME pics! that would be cool. thanks!!!!
you got it Traci. Greg Fans United will be it. should I put everyone's name under the picture or just let Greg guess whos who?
Alrighty, picked up everything. Sending anything that needs to be sent(including DVDs I promised some people eons ago) to the post office tomorrow. And I get to keep a pretty gift bag
I'm picking mine up from you on sunday amanda. you knew that right? hope you didn;t send it out.
Well considering I'm sending stuff out tomorrow Dre, I indeed did not send yours out :-P (Yes, I know we're exchanging Sunday. Don't forget your cash for me).
Wait. Gift bag? What's this and if you got one for buying an auction item I want mine.
this is so, so sad. i can't believe it. DRS will never, EVER, EVER be the same without gregory jbara! he was andre. *sniffle*
but, i am excited for his future. DRS was a great, great part of his career, i'm sure. :)
Amanda: last night was my very first Disney on Broadway experience ever, and i LOVED IT. i mean, i read countless reviews that said that the musical was bad, blah blah blah, but watching that show reminded me *why* i love disney so much. i felt like a kid again. the opening sequence left me breathless, the lighting was BEAUTIFUL, and the cast was AMAZING, especially CHESTER (eee!) and everybody was so nice afterwards-especially JENN! i love her-she is SUCH a sweetheart! i liked the music, too.
Aww, so glad you got to meet Jenn! She is an absolute doll. And so adorable. The two times I've seen Tarzan I've rushed it so I've sat front row and it's so great seeing it there, the cute faces she makes...I mean it's great to see everything really that close.
Yeah, Chester is great. And...adorable in a different way. Though gotta admit Josh is too. Yeah, the first scene is amazing. I mean the cast is so talented...that no, it's not a great show really...I can point out lots of flaws, but I really really like it. I have fun and realize I actually like Phil Collins' songs when they're not sung by, err...Phil Collins.
Traci, it was just a bag Greg put the stuff in to make it easy for me to carry. So really you get it for picking up items, not buying :-P So it's mine.
Well, Keith and Brian's first performance should be over--anxiously awaiting reviews. I saw Jack at the stage door and I was like you came to the stage! we cheered for you! haha. I love Jack. Just Jack. *spirit fingers* Jack 2000.
BTW, you guys know me. I should be arriving at the lotto Sunday at 12:59
yep! where should we go to eat? if we are eating.... or should we decide that when we meet?
Alright. I'm back - I'll copy and paste what I wrote on the main board:
"Just got back!!
First off - Keith. Let me just say that he has a REALLY tough act to follow. Jonathan Pryce really re-invented the role and brought it and the show to new heighs. It's not easy to step into a role like that. That having been said, he wasn't bad. I think he's going to need time to really warm up to the role. He was a bit boring at times, but there were moments where you could see he's got it in him. I think he's just figuring things out still. The keys of all of his songs had to be lowered, and it took a bit for me to get used to. I'm going to wait and see how he evolves in the role before I really say anything else. He's very charming and there's definitely potential.
Brian? BRIAN! Obviously, I'm biased. But I went in there tonight and let me just tell you - he met and exceeded every expectation I had. He performed the role tonight like he's been doing it for months. It was perfect - he was funny, he was crude when he needed to be, and his voice... are there words to describe his voice? His Great Big Stuff was just perfection - the house went wild afterwards, which is saying a lot, given that this audience wasn't responding to much. He really made this role his own and it's so nice to see a fresh take. And to think - he can only get better from here. He's going to be incredible as his run goes on... I may even dare to say that some people may be thinking 'Norbert who?'
The rest of the cast was dead on tonight, as usual. The audience was small - almost the entire front row was empty, and much of the rear mezz was totally empty... hopefully things will pick up. We'll see.
I encourage everyone who has the opportunity to see Brian in this show. He's worth every penny.
*smiles at avatar* "
I'm not good with details, so please, ask as many questions as you'd like.
awesome Kerrie! sounds like fun. and a pic with Brian already. hahaha.
