Yeah, that would be fun. We probably wouldn't talk or anything.
I actually heard there are some really nice restaurants and places to go out after a show in Cincinatti. The area around the theatre is supposed to be really nice.

Emcee, it would be so awesome if you could go to Cincinatti during spring break!
I've decided I'm going to ask my dad to come with me. He's been pretty mellow about my coming to NYC for New Years, so I think it would be good. I definitely reconsidered after reading the sex scene g was so kind to tempt us with *fans self* but it'll be fine. A bit awkward, but we'll probably just ignore that scene like the giant elephant in the room. We're good at that
The bisexuality discussion...should be interesting. I was watching an episode of Queer Eye earlier and my dad made a few comments that reminded me just how intolerant he can be (who am I kidding, he listens to Rush Limbaugh daily). I finally told him to just shut up, because I didn't want to hear it. Which is a major step for me; I usually just ignored it in the past, but two and a half years away from home has given me a bit more backbone about stuff like this with my *highly* conservative parents.
Oh, I finally went to the doctor today and it turns out I have bronchitis AND a sinus infection. Woohoo! When I get sick, I make it count
But I've basically been stuck on the sofa all day, where I watched Raúl's Chatterbox episode 3 times. Well, 3 times just today.

Someone posted this on one of the Brokeback threads:
But it's precisely because they make the wrong choices (and it's pretty obvious that they're wrong, at least by the end of the film) that people seeing the film can be moved to make the right ones. Just to site one example of the impact this film will have, I believe there are going to be unhappily married men who will make changes in their lives because they've seen first hand the tragedy those bad choices can lead to. Had Ennis decided to leave his wife and children for a life with Jack, I think those unhappily married men would be saying, "It's just a movie. I could never do that. The happy ending is unrealistic. I'd just better grin and bear it." Because the film ends the way it does, the imact remains, hours, days, weeks, months after the film ends. Because the film ends the way it does, there will be people who say, "No more! I can't live this way any longer!"
(I'm waiting for People magazine to do a cover story on "Men Who Left their Wives after seeing Brokeback Mountain.")
....
Speaks for itself.

Wow. I hope it does move people to make changes in their lives. If those changes are the right ones.
I'm more anxious than ever to see this now.

Posted: 12/21/05 at 3:16pmIt's a bold statement, but I don't think it's without consideration. That's a big part of the movie. These guys both have wives and children. It's all incredibly throught-provoking; you can't get back the things you lose, and then you're just stuck with regret.

I haven't seen the movie yet, it's only playing at 2 theaters in my area right now, but I read the book a month ago because I was curious.
I agree about the ending. It's much better more powerful than some smultzy happily ever after crap, because considering how real the rest of the story is, no one would believe it if they ran off into the wilderness to be together forever or something. I hope the people that need to see this movie will see it and learn from it.

Posted: 12/21/05 at 3:49pmI keep saying that never before have I seen a movie where the characters truly feel THAT real. I seriously used to think Heath Ledger was just pretty, but he's ridiculous. Like, he could seriously win awards on this.

I might actually make it to Cincinnati! I'm hatching a plan, which is slightly farfetched, but two of my farfetched planned trips to NYC have worked out great, so I'm optimistic.

Sorry to butt in on your oh-so-important discussion of Raul, but does anyone know when/if Em will be online? I have to say goodbye to her.
I think it's insane for anyone to travel that far to see one little show and actor. It's not as if you haven't all see him dozens of times before. I'd kill to go to Company, but it probably won't happen for me.And I LIVE in Ohio.
Must be nice to be so disgustingly rich.

You don't have to be rich (I know I am struggling quite a bit financially right now), you just have to budget. My ticket cost $36 because it's the preview. And I'm getting driven in so I won't have to pay airfare or train-fare or whatnot. I'll stay at a cheap, little hotel. I just wanted to see this very badly and I always say I'll do something and never actually do it, so it'll be a nice little adventure to remember. I don't go see shows every week, nor every month.
I didn't mean to get defensive, and I'm only speaking for myself. Umm..happy holidays?

Here for the night, ladies. Say your goodbyes.
I'm glad tickets are so cheap. I think I can fly for free, because my dad has accumulated a ton of airline miles from working, but now that he travels less, he doesn't need them. I guess we can find a cheap hotel. I think this is going to be my Hannukah/birthday present, though, which I'm perfectly cool with.
