"Little boxes on the hillside..."
Who else loves this show as much as me?! I don't have Showtime but always wanted to watch it so I bought the entire first season on iTunes. I have fallen in love! I can't wait for the second season to start on August 14th. Here's for Emmy nominations for Mary-Louise Parker, Elizabeth Perkins, Alexander Gould and the brilliant writing staff!
I'm disappointed to hear that the second season doesn't begin until mid-August! I don't get Showtime at school and recently caught most of the first season in a marathon on Showtime. I had hoped that it would be one of those shows that has seasons in the summer. Anyway, it's such an interesting show, and Mary-Louise Parker is great (not to mention completely gorgeous).
I've never seen the show, because I don't get the channel it's on, but I just wanted to say that I love Mary Louise Parker very, very much.

It's funny and quirky--and adore the cast. Watching Mary-Louise and Elizabeth in a scene is priceless. And I've adored that they have Justin Kirk, too. He and Mary-Louise have such rapport. I saw that in "Angels in America" in their one scene together and love to see that same connection in Weeds.
Showtime On Demand has it available right now.

i actually don't like this show at all. it doesn't do anything different as a suburban satire that we haven't seen already and, above all, it's just not that funny.
I just discovered this show. all of season 1 is on Showtime on Demand, so I'm ready for season2. it's incredibly funny and worth your time, check it out.
I just finally saw the entire season, and I LOVE this show. Absolutely hilarious!

"...Little boxes made of ticky-tacky..."
I love it.
I don't have Showtime anymore, so I took the plunge and bought Season 1 on iTunes because I really wanted to check it out. I like everyone on the show, especially Elizabeth Perkins and Justin Kirk (mmmm...Justin Kirk...). I hope Elizabeth picks up the Emmy for Best Supporting Actress. After all of the Big Love acting snubs (which infuriated me), I was thrilled to see her recognized. Celia is hilarious.
Can't wait for Season 2.
Has anyone gotten the DVD yet? What are the special features? Worth the 33 dollars?
love this show soo much! Bought it on Itunes and am completley hooked and cannot wait until season 2! I love Mary Louise and yes she is very hot on the show and Elizabeth is equally hilarious and makes you love crazy Celia
I can't wait to see what suprises Season 2 has in store
I'm thinking about buying the DVD. I've really wanted to see this show since I heard about it, but I don't have cable. It sounds like I should go ahead and buy it.
I really like this show. It's like a more normal (i.e. less campy) version of Desperate Housewives without all the obnoxious voiceovers from the dead lady.
My favorite scene is when Celia is explaining to Isabelle why she can't be a lesbian, because she's not "where lesbianism is going."
Cruel_Sandwich, name one other TV show where a suburban mom becomes a pot dealer, then maybe I'll consider your "nothing that hasn't already been done before" argument.

I love this show so much! All cast members are talented, and MLP is just great in this (as is Elizabeth Perkins). I love this quirky sort of dark-comedy. I just can't get enough of this show.
I also really enjoy that crazy little ditty of a theme song. Cracks me up everytime, and whenever I watch it on iTunes I can't help but sing along with the funny song (in the same style of her voice, of course).
ittle boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes made of ticky tacky
Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes all the same,
There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they're all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same.
And the people in the houses
All went to the university
Where they were put in boxes
And they came out all the same
And there's doctors and lawyers
And business executives
And they're all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same.

I want to make love to this show! It's so brillant. With the loss of "Dead Like Me" - I've found my new obsession. Hopefully this one will last longer. I just got finished watching the first Season DVD (Only Disc 1 though) and I'm already hooked. I can't wait to find out what happens. The cleaning lady just found Nancy's stash! Mary-Lousie Parker is by far my favorite actress now. She's brillant. And beutiful.
I love this show! I was addicted to the first season back when I had Showtime. I even got my skeptical roommate hooked! I'm disappointed that it didn't get more recognition from the Emmy nominators. How much did it cost on iTunes? (I'm too lazy to look) :) ITunes may be the only way for me to see the show since I don't have cable anymore.
My day yesterday went something like this:
Wake up.
Be Bored.
Purchase 1st Episode out of boredom.
Watch.
Purchase 2nd.
Watch.
Purchase the remaining 8.
Watch all in a row.
So good. Parker and Kirk are amahhzing together. Is it bad that I'm secretly pulling for a relationship between their characters, considering the fact that she was married to his dead brother?
*SPOILERS*
I don't know...I really want her with the hispanic drug dealer. That scene in the alley was HOT! I also wouldn't mind her with Conrad. Does anyone like her w/ Bill?
No.
I REALLY want her and Andy to happen.
I just don't think she'd ever go for Andy...not that it won't happen I just don't see her liking him in that way
But it would be sooooo hot.
The scene in the alley with the other dealer was creepy/hot. I'm still stuck on Nancy and Conrad!

i don't believe anything clever or particularly compelling was done with that premise though, orangeskittles...
Cruel (don't take this the wrong way) - I'd be interested to know what else you would do with the premise? I think the show's brilliant!

i wouldn't have set it in suburbia, i probably would have transposed the setting to some sort of Orwellian nightmare-land where the weed offers "clarity" to those who cannot see beyond their shackles of an existence. but the weed also eats away at their lifespan the more they use it and thus ethical questions are raised: what is more important? a longer lifespan or mental clarity and fulfillment?
but that's just me...
I hope you're kidding, as that would completely... negate the point of the show. I can see not LIKING it as a premise, which is totally understandable, but you can't start with an entirely different premise and say that they didn't do theirs justice.
