The Other Boleyn Girl#0

Has anyone else read this? I just finished and I was completely mesmerized, I couldn't put it down. It almost felt like it was getting too long I was almost getting the feeling like "Jesus just kill Anne and be done with it all". That woman was a psychotic b!tch.

SPOILER

I was sad George died. So very sad. But that whole incest thing was rather....disturbing.

I never really knew much about the Tudors, when I was little I read this Royal Diaries book on Elizabeth I as a child and it spooked the hell out of me, so I vowed never to concentrate on that part of history again. But now I don't want to stop...

I read the same "Royal Diaries" (or whatever the series was called) book about Elizabeth I, although I found it boring rather than spooky. I tended to read those Dear America/Royal Diaries books in late elementary school/early middle school because everyone else was, not because I actually liked them. Plus, they had a cool ribbon.

Anyway, I've heard so many good things about The Other Boleyn Girl but never made a point to read it. I absolutely love Tudor history, especially anything regarding Anne Boleyn, so I really should check it out.

TudorHistory.org is a great place to start if you're interested in finding out more about that time period.

Thanks I'll do that! And yeah you should. And yeah, I read the Royal Diaries series when I was in elementary school. At first I only read them because of their golden edges. They were kinda a waste of time now that I think about it because I read them in like 2 days and I remember nothing.

The last one I read was in the summer going into 5th grade and it was some African princess one that gave me nightmares.

Anyway. The Other Boleyn Girl. I've heard a lot of different opinions but I enjoyed it.

I adore Philippa Gregory!

I just finished The Virgin's Lover, which is also an excellent read.

And, yes, I loved The Other Boleyn Girl. As I have loved all her books. Historical novels are among my favorites.

If you enjoy historical novels, check out Anya Seton's books, also. (She also wrote under the name Anya Seton Chase). The Winthrop Woman is an all-time favorite.

Check out 'The Autobiography of Henry VIII with Notes by His Fool Will Somers' by Margaret George. I loved it.
Also rent or purchase BBC - SIX WIVES OF HENRY VIII and ELIZABETH R.

Margaret George....where have I heard that name? Has she written other books?

And that book sounds interesting...I'll check out if my library has it.

Mary Stuart is the subject of one of her other historical novels.
I want to read her Cleopatra ASAP.

Another writer of historical fiction who I adore is Jane Smiley. I loved A Thousand Acres, and am currently reading The Greenlanders.

But, back to The Other Boleyn Girl...

I have heard SO MUCH about The Greenlanders- how's that going?

Right The Other Boleyn Girl.

MORE SPOILERS

I was SO happy to finish the book only because I was relieved Mary didn't die. Or her son, I really expected little Henry to be killed too for whatever psychotic reason they could think of.

And yeah Glebb that's where I've heard of her. I read a really small, quick review on her Cleopatra but it was one of the best reviews I've ever read, and my friend was telling me about the Mary Stuart novel.

Once I finsish Maya Angelou's 4th autobiography The Heart of a Woman I'll definately start on these other books...

You people are brilliant, I keep getting names out of you all.

I really want to concentrate next on Jane Seymour and sort of go in order almost...Now it's an obsession. I'll have to put that Irish Rebellion out of my mind for a few weeks.
