Hey, all.
I'm trying to find the perfect song for my voice that isn't overdone at auditions. Actually, several perfect songs for my voice that aren't overdone at auditions. I already settled on "I Cain't Say No," from "Oklahoma!" which suits my voice perfectly. Is that song overdone? Also, what other songs do you recommend?

Have you looked at the The Singer's Musical Theatre Anthologies? There are three of them for mezzos/belters, but I'll list all the songs for you. They may not all be appropriate for your age or just in general, but at least there's a lot of variety.

R+H isn't always a bad thing... but "I Cain't Say No Is" extremely over done.
You could always look at some of the Rodgers and Hart stuff too.

Posted: 12/14/05 at 7:45pmHmm. I am currently in a production of Children of Eden and playing the role of Yonah, and I think 'Stranger to the Rain' is quite a good song for what range it sounds like you have. The "money note" is a D-natural, and if you can belt the hell out of it sounds incredible.
