Just got my ticket. Couldn't miss that line up. I think there might still be a few $100 tickets left (I decided to splurge for ones even more expensive), but everything cheaper is soldout. Here's more info:
"Some boldfaced names have lined up for The Public Sings, a splashy benefit concert of highlights from musicals produced by The Public Theater.
Zach Braff, Betty Buckley, Lea DeLaria, Savion Glover, Eartha Kitt, Donna McKechnie, Idina Menzel, Donna Murphy, Rosie Perez, Natalie Portman, Tonya Pinkins, Billy Porter, Meryl Streep, Mary Testa, and Lillias White will all take part in the event, which James Lapine will direct.
The one-night-only event — Jan. 30, 2006 — at City Center in midtown Manhattan will benefit the not-for-profit Public, a downtown institution for 50 years.
The concert will offer songs from Hair; A Chorus Line; Runaways; Bring in 'Da Noise, Bring in 'Da Funk; Caroline, or Change; and many others.
Tickets range $20-$750 and go one sale Dec. 2. Special "Benefit Tickets" range $1000-$5000 and include premium seating, pre- and post-performance events and more. For information, call (212) 539-8633."

It sounds like an evvening of showstoppers -- McKechnie will probably do "Music and the Mirror," Pinkins -- "Lot's Wife," Delaria -- "I Can Cook Too," Kitt -- something from The Wild Party, Lillias White -- maybe "Aquarius?"
I cheaped out and got a $25 gallery seat.
I assume that Eartha will do one of her two big numbers from The Wild Party: "Moving Uptown" or "When It Ends". I've got my fingers crossed that Lillias White will do "That's Enough for Me" from Romance in Hard Times---of course, if she does, I'll be blubbering like a baby. I assume Betty Buckley will do something from Drood.

I hate to miss it, but I have a concert of my own that night.
I can't wait to hear all about it.... it sounds AMAZING!
Yup I got tix in the last row of the whole theater for $20. Will definitely be worth it though...I viewed the seating chart, I'm sure I'll still see fine and won't be that high up right? At least nothing can compare to the last row of Carnegie Hall for Lea Salonga's concert, must not be THAT high up...
Soo excited for this!
WRQ-As a veteran of gallery seating at City Center (I've sat in the last row PLENTY of times), I recommend bringing binoculars.
Oh well still worth it.
The last row of carnegie hall was 6 flights up...so I'm still...hoping...it's not that high...oh well.
man I wish it wasn't so expensive to get to NYC because that is the coolest line up ever! Ahh...
WOW! It's on my 30th birthday! I would LOVE to go.

So come to NY and visit for both events. There are plenty of people who would put you up.
We have season's tickets for Encores and I just got my tockets for Public Sings.

I got my ticket when they first went on sale. I couldn't miss that lineup.
I wish I could go. And it's on my birthday. Anyone want to pitch-in for a birthday gift?
