okay here's the story of a blind date that I had many years ago..

I forget where I was working, but I was the receptionist (probably temping) and I talked to all kinds of people –

So one day, some guy tells me I have a sexy voice and I liked the sound of his so we agree to go on a date.

He picks me up and I don’t remember being repulsed but I wasn’t thrilled either because to this day I can’t remember the guy’s name or what he looks like….

What I do remember is that he took me to this little bar/club in the east village with a pool table in the back (no the pool table is not a featured player in this tale…)

So we are sitting in the back of the place looking towards the door (the street – the dancefloor and the bar)

He is sitting with his back to the door so I have the full view of the place.

Sitting at the bar, was this dark, hairy, smoky-eyed guy. Kinda scruffy looking but in a really cool, artsy kinda way. AND HE IS STARING RIGHT AT ME!

Took my f***ing breath away….

So when my date asks me to dance, I say yes and we wade out onto the floor. The smoky guy is still staring – doesn’t break. I start to get very hot… I tell my date I need some water…

I move over to the bar and stand right next to the smoky guy….(whose name I will never forget but will not list here…)

I don’t look at him – I call the bartender and order my water and a drink for my date…

The smoky guy doesn’t look at me either – but in the 90 seconds that I stood there waiting for the drinks – he told me his name, where he worked and what time he’d be there…..

The next day I called his job – he answered and said he was waiting for me to call.

We spent a year together and I’ll never forget him – he opened my mind and introduced me to a far more expansive way of thinking… not too mention being an INCREDIBLE LOVER (which – thank God – I’ve got a nose for…) and he trained me to please – as well as raised my standards on how to be pleased…. He was 11 years older than me and we both knew it wouldn’t be forever – but I thank God for every moment….

I never saw my date again…
