my parents have set a good example. they barely use their credit card, except when cash isn't accepted. some months they don't even have more than $20 on their bills. and they each have ONE.
its ANNOYING. sometimes i want to order stuff off the internet, and i CAN'T.

more than one nia...
my goal is NO DEBT OF ANY KIND (gotta ways to go...)
but I tore up the credit cards ages ago (keep one for emergencies...)
the interest rates are what kill you - you work all your life just to feed the interest...
I started studying how rich people think and behave.... one thing is for certain - they don't live off their credit cards... when they use them - they ususally pay them off right away (like AMEX)
I had a great mom who taught me a lot of wonderful things - but money management wasn't one of them... i've had to learn it the hard way but the lessons took - for sure!!! now, i hope to be able to pass certain information along to my kids so they will be able to enjoy their money (i.e. live in the NOW) and still be wise about savings and planning for their future goals...

mmmhmm, whenever i use my CC i make sure i have enough money to pay it off...
Okay I'm back (as if that wasn't apparent already)...
Anyways. About Lemony Snicket. The movie wasn't too bad. I'm afraid I'm not the one to ask if they butchered the books or not, because I haven't read them. Jim Carey was quite ammusing (as always), and made me laugh at things I normally wouldn't have. Like whats so funny about being eaten to death by leaches? I have no idea, but when Jim Carey is involved, it can be. There were quite a few things that bothered me though. Like at the beginning, theres this cartoon and really happy music and birds chirping and little elf things singing... honestly it creeped me out. The point was for the happiness to suddenly come to an end, and the narrator to give the audience one last chance to leae the theater to see something 'more happy'. It was just really drawn out-- the song must have gone on for a few minutes, and I was beginning to wonder if I was in the right theater. The rest of the movie was okay, but it bothered me how the children were so unphased by everything happening to them. Maybe thats how they were in the books though, so I guess I can't complain...
My sister loved it though, which was all that mattered at the moment.
One last question though to those who did read the books... who the heck is Lemony Snicket? In the movie we would randomly hear his voice and see him typing or looking at pictures.

you're lucky beka...
how much stuff off the net do you really need? (I'm sure that's just what your folks say too )
do yourself a favor - strive to be JUST LIKE THEM!!! At least where credit debt is concerned...
my motto - if i don't have cash - i don't need it...
it's been working well.... much better than the other way...

Glory, read the books. Lemony Snicket is the author's pen name and the story's narrator who slowly works himself in as a character. They're darkly funny stories, I love them. It might make sense if you read it more. Was Jim Carrey slapsticky or more ironically comical?

its mostly rare stuff that i can't buy anywhere else, or near me.
i am definitely careful about what i buy (my parents say i need to live a little, i've gone for months without spending a dime), but this year i'm buying myself chanukah presents cause my one from my parents was wicked tickets. theres some stuff i would have gotten, but now i have to get them myself.

'Was Jim Carrey slapsticky or more ironically comical? '
A little of each. Just the way he moved and talked, hand gestures, obvious ad-libbing etc. He's just a really wild guy that brought some really wild acting to the film.

i need a manicure/pedicure so bad! but it'll just get messed up at gymnastics... i just slapped on some nude color so no one has to see my nasty toenails at practice.

Oh it was definately in character most of the time...
*Do you mind if I spoil it more than I already have? Do you plan on seeing the movie? If not then continue reading*
Except when we first meet his character he dances and sings down the stairs... thought that was a little odd. Everything else was great though. Very ammusing story, but I'm not sure if it actually followed the books or not, so maybe I'll read them and see

i read that it followed 3 of the books... not the first three though.
